I had been eyeing this joint for a while and hence decided to finally check it out for a quick bite post workout. I ordered the Falafel wrap with some Dolma on the side, and both were served fairly quickly and modestly presented. The Dolma was flavorful, however, the leaves were a tad more chewy than I am used to in a dolma, and the rice was a bit more on the sweeter side. The falafel wrap was homely, and along with the hot, sour and tangy sauce on the side, made a filling meal. The side salad was surprisingly fresh and dressed with a sharp vinaigrette dressing, adding a good flavor burst while cleansing the palette. The flavors of the wrap by itself were subtle though, and needed the hot sauce to add the required kick. The wrap was a bit dry, but the hot black tea with cardamom that is offered on the house helped make it a smoother meal overall. The chef was friendly and attentive. Definitely a good place to stop by for a quick bite that is filling...
Read moreOverall: Looking forward to coming back here for the baklava and supporting this family-owned business! I opted for King of Kabab after being yelled at from another Mediterranean restaurant close by and am SO glad I discovered this gem instead. I had a wonderful experience with the owner and recommend trying out this spot.
Food: Ordered the chicken kabab salad and the chicken kabab plate, which were both generous portions. The chicken was tender/juicy and hummus was full of flavor. The dressing was refreshingly light, fresh, and delicious (coming from someone who doesn't typically like dressings).
Customer service: The owner is phenomenally kind and makes you feel right at home. In our quick 5 min interaction, we chatted about our day's ups/downs and I left feeling like family.
Parking: Street parking only and was pretty easy to find
Order/delivery: Easily ordered via Yelp for pick-up and delivery is...
Read moreWe just ate at King of Kabob for the first time today and we'll definitely be back. We tried the chicken shawarma wrap, falafel wrap, shawarma plate, chicken melt wrap, and a side of 6 falafel. All were tasty and portions were surprisingly generous, especially considering how cheap the prices were. We ordered online and food was ready in 20 minutes. Staff were very friendly. We peeked at the outdoor patio and it looked like a nice spot to eat in dry weather, but it was raining that day so everything was wet. We could have eaten at one of 2 indoor tables, but we choose to get carry out. This will be added to our list of go-to eateries in Berkeley. Very happy to have finally discovered this place....
