I have been coming to Pyeong Chang Tofu House for about 7 years. New improved prices with less quality and less service. 1 bowl of vegetarian soup.... $20.00. I am vegetarian. Both Pyeong Chang restaurants took the time to remake the menu with increased prices but not correct the changes they made for cheaper ingredients. Shiitake mushrooms are advertised in the vegetarian soup. They both switched to cheap button mushrooms and left shiitake on the menu. This has now been numerous times between both restaurants. With the new price hikes, I made it a point to ask to make sure they had shiitake this time before ordering. The waitress said YES. I ordered the soup and received button mushrooms again. I would have walked out at a 20 dollar soup if she had said no. I have not seen Shiitake in my dishes for years between the two restaurants, always with the same excuse, " we were out".The "manager?" came out and told me that is how they do business when I asked and was willing to do nothing. Why say you have something if you dont? Are you assuming your customers wont notice shiitake from button mushrooms. I ordered steak and received chicken. Of course steak prices are asked. I guess the rice served in the stone bowl with crisp rice is a thing of the past also. Not here. . It was good while it lasted and the reason I continued to go in spite of the decline in quality and service. Now 5 star prices with 2 star service, and the famous signs of the death throws of a restaurant desperate for every dollar they can? I wish them luck, but driving away a 7 year customer that has always tipped well? Off night you say? That is quite a few off nights in a row to give up my favorite restaurant. This place has lost its magic. I think I will keep making...
Read moreThey are generous with their appetizers/panchan, a plus We ordered a seafood pancake, but I barely taste any seafood, it's mostly flour. This location is quite empty when we when on a Sunday night. Half of the group arrived earlier, trying to get seated first. Nevertheless, the server was not willing to seat us until the rest of our group arrived, which is frustrating because there are plenty if not more tables in the restaurant!
I find the food mediocre although it was recommended by my friend, or maybe because I ordered the wrong item?
The server was pushy when it came to payment. We were in the middle of enjoying our food, and he slided in the receipt on our table, saying there's no rush. But what does that mean when you put it on the table right?! Again there's hardly other customers! Which is why I don't understand about the rush. He constantly eyed on us to check whether we put a card on the tray but didn't bother offering us hot water for our Noorengji. Disappointing service, mediocre food. I had better Soon Tofu and this did...
Read moreIt was a horrible experience here!!! We ordered tofu soup, LA galbi, and bibimbap for lunch, but when I got the tofu soup, I saw rice inside the soup. This was quite odd because normally rice is served separately. I asked the employee what was going on, and he said that the chef used the same spoon to cook the bibimbap, so rice got mixed up in my soup. It was very disgusting, but I tried to be polite and asked them to make it again. However, it took almost 20 minutes to get a new soup. Additionally, my husband noticed that some of the employees in the kitchen seemed very uncomfortable with our comment about the soup (I didn't complain; I was just wondering why there was rice inside the soup. I thought maybe they had a different recipe!). This is my first time visiting here, and I was very excited because there were lots of good reviews for this restaurant. However, my experience was horrible, and I am skeptical about their sanitary conditions. Anyway, we did not eat the soup and just left the restaurant. I will not...
