Pho Le — Restaurant in Berkeley

Came here on a hot, quiet Tuesday last week and had a most enjoyable experience. The man serving us was super friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered a Pho Dac Biet, Pho Ga, and also tried the house special dumplings. This restaurant has a sort of Chinese/ Vietnamese fusion menu, but certainly everything we had exceeded expectations. The broth on the Pho Ga was crisp, the beef broth was rich and flavorful, and the additions and sauces provided to enjoy a variety of dining options was plenty. One thing I was surprised by was the quality and presentation of the dumplings. They included a 3 sauce set and the wraps were filled to the brim. We ordered salt and pepper chicken wings for $25/plate and they gave us fried pieces of chicken nuggets which are probably the same as the orange chicken . We couldn’t complain because it was a take out order. Overall, we spent $135 and we didn’t like any of the 7 dishes. The dumpling skins were thick and had a funky sauce. The walnut prawns were salty. The broccoli and beef was decent but not great. We have routinely ordered takeout in the past and loved the food. But it appears there may be a new owner as the menus are a bit different. This place is a hidden gem and the food here is really solid and well priced! My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner on a weeknight after hearing some good things about the food and were really impressed with the quality and flavor of everything we ordered. The house special dumplings, house beef stew noodle soup, and the beef pho were all delicious and incredibly flavorful. I especially loved my house beef stew-- the broth was so rich and delicious (probably some of the best I've had in a long time).
