I would give a zero if there was an option! Nothing tasted even remotely ok in all 6 dishes, except the kid's chicken tenders plate. Here we start. For a restaurant that claims to be authentic Italian, the bread was served with pieces of wrapped butter, no olive oil or balsamic vinegar. For appetizers we ordered bruschitta, was barely ok, and a beans and green plate that is supposed to be sauteed in olive oil. Horrendous. The plate was served with so much liquid that we had to drain the greens each time by holding them with two forks and let the liquid drip. Not sure if the chef knows what sautee means. The entire plate lacked flavour! Everyone was adding salt and pepper to try to eat it. Now for the entrees. The chicken Piccata was awful. The lemon buttery sauce was served as if it was soup, too much and too watery. Instead of lemon, I think the chef used pure ascorbic acid. The acidity was overpowering. The chicken had no flavor by itself. I could only force myself to eat half a piece of chicken (there were two). Now for the pasta, usually chicken picatta comes with spaghetti or angel hair served on the same dish. The pasta absorbes some of the delicious lemony sauce and tastes good on its own. NOT HERE! I got a small cup of what looks like Fucilini with tomato sauce. Unedible. The tomato sauce lacked taste, can't decide if it came from a can or simply badly made. One of our children in our party, ordered the spaghetti with tomato sauce from the children's menu. She had one bite, then pushed the dish away saying it wasn't good. I tasted it. The spaghetti was bland as if cooked in non-salty water. The tomato sauce was also bland, lacking any sort of flavor, as awful as the one I had. Another major failure was the chicken marsala dish. The plate had liquid soup as opposed to a delicious glaze or sauce. Again lacking flavoring. The only people to finish their plates were the two kids eating chicken strips! I could go on about our experience eating there! To summarize place is highly NOT recommended. An authentic Italian restaurant that lack any sort of flavor, mess up the tomato sauce (really), chef doesn't know what Sautee is and loves to serve soggy dishes. The taste of olive oil, basil, thyme, salt, pepper and fresh tomatoes was...
Read moreChanged name but nothing else that we could tell on our most recent visit. My chicken was way overcooked but that seemed to be a momentary problem as the other dishes were fine.
The best way I can think of describing this place is as a good, traditional, Italian-American restaurant. They offer all the classic dishes in a homey atmosphere and all are executed well. We went there with a group of friends and were treated very well by the very attentive staff. Carol was a delight – personable, funny, extremely knowledgeable, and efficient – everything you want from a good server. The support staff of bus boys was a bit overeager (they whisked glasses and plates away … sometimes before we were quite finished!) but were quick to replace them or leave them when we commented on it. And the manager also stopped by to check if everything was to our liking.
As to the food: Wedding soup, house salad, Chicken Parmesan – those are all Italian classics. The chicken Maremana and the Seafood platter were slightly different than the norm, but not so far out of line. The special of the Rockfish was well executed as well, although the garlicky risotto stole the show there! All the dishes were done well. I am not disappointed, but none of us were wowed by how exceptional they were either. Every dish was done very well, but did not go beyond that.
This is a place that I will definitely want to go when I want to get this kind of food and know that it will be done well every time and will never change. If I want more adventurous food, or variations, I will need to find other places. These are not negative statements. The longevity and crowds in this restaurant are a testament to how successful...
Read moreI was not impressed with anything here. The worst was the booth. I'm 64 & have sat in many booths. I've never sat in one so cheaply made. The man behind me kept push on the back. If you ever sat in the front seat of a car with a kid in the back kicking the back of your seat that's what it was like. I finally did some pushing of my own & moved over against the wall. I thought he must be a big guy & just can't get comfortable. Turns out he was a normal size & in his 70's I'd guess. That was the most uncomfortable meal I've ever had. As for the food it was ok nothing special. Food portions were on the smaller side. There were two of us & we both odered a side of fettuccine. It was a very small portion. I had veal parm & spots for my friend. We also ordered provolone sticks for an appetizer. They were served without any plates. So we used the bread plates. Once done with that we had no plates for our bread. I used the sauser under my soup & my friend laid her bread on the table & then on a wet cocktail napkin from under her drink. She had to ask for the napkin also b/c the drink was sweating & made a good portion of the table wet. The waiter was very nice & attentive. So at the end I ask him why he doesn't serve plates with the appetizer & recommended that he did. He said management says not to & they could use their bread plates. We waited at least 45 minutes for our food & the room was half empty. I was not impressed at all. I don't recommend you go there. But if you do DON'T...
