I love donuts. I will go out of my way to get good donuts (especially donuts with peanut butter), and I did to visit Donerds in Bethlehem. I’ve had some amazing donuts (Pink Box Donuts), some super disappointing donuts (Donutique, in Vegas) and everything in between. I was so excited! I read the reviews, watched videos and saw they were just awarded Best Donut shop in the Lehigh Valley by Style, so I was read for something special! I was traveling to the Poconos and went 30min out of my way to make the stop. I literally got there before they opened and was the first one in. I ordered 4 donuts: Peanut Butter Cup, PB&J, Maple Pecan Nutella, and Boston Cream… and they were good. Not great, not amazing, but pretty good. Let me break it down- Peanut Butter Cup: Was really looking forward to this one! It was a yeast donut with a coating of peanut butter frosting, chocolate frosting and a Peanut Butter Cup in the center. The issue is that the frosting was just too sweet, and didn’t have enough peanut butter flavor. When you got to the PB cup in the center it was just a reminder of how it should taste and what you’re missing, flavor contrast. Make the PB frosting more peanut flavored and add a little salt, this could be amazing. Maple Pecan Nutella: Very excited about this one, but again, was just too sweet. The maple frosting by was good with the yeast donut on it’s own, but when you got a bite with the frosting and the Nutella, the sweet was just overwhelming. I love Nutella, and one of the best donuts I ever had was the Nutella Face Cronut at Pink Box, so I was expecting something on that level… if that was a 10, this was a 5. Needed something to contrast the sweet on sweet. PB&J: Was nicely filled with jelly, almost too much. My issue falls with the fact that the jelly had seeds which got stuck in my teeth. The peanut frosting also suffered from not having enough peanut flavor to counter the jelly, so it was more like a “hint” of peanut butter and lots of jelly. Boston Cream: This was probably the most disappointing, because it’s a classic and you know what to expect- so I expected it to be elevated. The cream tasted like instant Jello vanilla pudding. The chocolate frosting was very sweet, but didn’t provide enough contrast to balance the large amount of pudding. It wasn’t bad or anything, I just expected so much more after seeing all these positive reviews and awards. The location was fine- it’s a nice, clean shop. The girl taking my order was nice enough, not much interaction. Am I happy I tried Donerds? Yes. Would I go out of my way to go back and pay $15 for 4 donuts (before tip), no.

Grabbed four types of donuts from Donerd's after seeing a post about them on a Facebook group I'm in. Decided to try the Homer (pink frosted with sprinkles), Bacon Maple, Take 5, and Cannoli. First impression of the business was clean and bright with fun music and the woman who helped me was friendly. The four donuts ran nearly $16 which is why this is not a 5 star review. I have no problem spending money on something that's worth it, but roughly $4 per donut is pretty steep. The homer was what it should be. This reminded me of the strawberry frosted donut from Dunkin' 15 years or so ago before Dunkin' became even further processed trash that they're trying to make maximum profit off of. That was my favorite donut from Dunkin', so this was a good start. The Bacon Maple is something I try anywhere that carries them because it's a killer combination and everywhere does them slightly differently. This was a very good donut and I do not regret the purchase at all. There is another maple bacon semi locally that I prefer, but that does not mean this wasn't excellent. The Take 5 was very good, but did not remind me of a take 5 bar. If this wasn't labeled Take 5, I would have never made that association. The cannoli was very good. The cannoli cream was just sweet enough without being too sweet and making it overkill. Adding the chocolate chips was smart and made it feel even more like a cannoli. I think the only thing that could have elevated that at all was perhaps some small pieces of cannoli shell on top. All in all I really enjoyed these but they would be a very rare treat because of the price. Regardless - Donerd's Donuts in Bethlehem, PA - Didn't Suck! Donuts were stale and dry. Barely any filling in them and not to mention very expensive. The donut itself is so large that the flavors on them is over powered by the dry stale donut. So disappointed.... I got a response back from this review and don't know how to add a comment to your response so to the response from the donut shop, I definitely did not get you messed up with another place. I ordered from y'all. It's right on my GrubHub app. If your donuts are made fresh everyday as you say that is even worse that they tasted the way they tasted and were dry and stale. That means they are sitting out all day and not preserved the right way so if you get them in the evening they will always taste dry and stale. They were definitely stale and not good. I went the other day to taste your macarons and they were ok but I was told that you do order them from somewhere in NY and do not make them from scratch. I asked when you would have more of a kind y'all had and the girl said that they are ordered from a place in NY and she didn't know when the order comes in. Not the best macarons but they are the best macarons around here. Macarons are hard to find around here. I only found them at your shop and sheets, that being said they are better then sheets macarons. I also found some at Chop in the casino but don't know if they still have them and of course the ones at Chop were the best macarons around. If I don't feel like making them I will get them from y'all. Unfortunately I went to go get some today 12/11/24 around 11:45 a.m. but your store was not open. Your hours on Google are 7 a.m. to I think 8 p.m. but the store wasn't open. I would never buy another donut from y'all will not go out my way again to go to the store to get macarons since I went and your store wasn't open even know it said it was supposed to be open on Google. I will only come get macarons again if I am passing and see it is open and I want a macaron. The red velvet and creme brulee are the best macarons there that I tasted. I will give you that but you can't really take credit because y'all don't make them. I will be surprised to see y'all still open in a year from now. I get fresher and better donuts at Giant. Good luck! I don't know how y'all got such good reviews. Some shops tell people if they give them a good review and they show them that they will give them a free product or percentage off. That's what must have happened because I'm baffled on all the good reviews. I do notice people around here don't eat out often and because of that do not know good food products. I personally have culinary arts schooling and also been baking with my mother since I can remember. I also travel and am experienced in much...
