Graeter's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Bexley

Graeter's Ice Cream is always GREAT! After dinner, my mother and I decided on this location for a treat. When we walked in, we were greeted w/ an AWFUL, AWFUL smell! It reminded me of a 👶's very dirty, unattended diaper. PHEW! I asked what it was and was told it had something to do w/ what was going on above the restaurant. I'm no plumbing or chemical expert, but it appears there's a serious issue w/ the building's piping system where unpleasant/unhealthy gases are being released and escaping. IT'S TERRIBLE! We ordered our treats to go and left. I felt bad for all the brave, dedicated workers who had to be there for hours taking it all in. For the sake of the tenants, workers, and customers I hope whoever is responsible for the building gives immediate attention to the matter and have it corrected. It's the right thing to do. I LOVE Graeter’s ice cream, and am never disappointed there. But… today I walk into the Bexley location, it smells horrible. No clue if it was the bathroom, something in the back spoiling, but incredibly unappetizing. I decide to go ahead and order, I’ll be out of the smell quickly. Place my order…. L O N G pause, oh, I can’t get in the cooler for that flavor. Young man stands and stares. Settle on a flavor, he goes to making my order. I decide to purchase my husband a hat, he loves hats. Sign says $10.95. Guy at counter hands me my milk shake, which has ice cream running down the side, rings up hat for $12.95. I point to the sign, he says oh, that must be the price for the old hats. Old fashioned ice cream parlor with a unique chocolate ganache style chip added to most flavors. The chocolate gobs don't have that hard waxy bite and the ice cream has a smooth creamy texture. The service was efficiently friendly. This particular location has a comfortable relaxed 1950's style and atmosphere including old ceiling fans run by a single motor and pulley system. I've noticed grocery stores now carry the small containers which is awesome to be able to get the craving satisfied up in Michigan! The best flavor by itself is the Black Cherry Chocolate Chip and is only improved by adding Saunder's Hot Fudge.
