We had family visiting from out of town and were on the hunt for a good Mexican spot. We happened to be in the area and stumbled upon Pepper’s Mexican Cuisine. It didn’t have many reviews yet, but the ones we saw were positive, so we took a chance. Turns out, this is a newer addition to the Biddeford food scene. I chatted with some of the staff, who shared that this used to be a different Mexican restaurant but it’s under entirely new ownership now with a new menu and a totally different vibe. I never visited the previous spot, but I can say this: it’s going to be hard for me to go anywhere else in Maine when I’m craving Mexican food. We had such an incredible experience; we all left full, happy, and so glad we stopped in. From the outside (and honestly, the inside too), it kind of feels like a fancy version of Chili’s, and I mean that in the best way. It’s welcoming and unpretentious, but also has some fun, elevated touches that make it feel a little more polished. We really liked the decor and the overall vibe. The service was great! The staff treated us like family, and someone (assuming the manager or owner?) even stopped by to check in and ask about our experience. But what really sealed the deal was the food (and the prices). Everything was delicious, and the portions were huge. We’re not usually ones to take leftovers, but there was no way we were finishing it all. The queso fundido was probably the best I’ve ever had, my husband’s burrito was the size of his head (and they apparently have an even bigger one on the menu), and the jalapeño margaritas were dangerously good. I would’ve had a couple more if they weren’t so big. Pepper’s totally exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to go back.

Fairly average Mexican restaurant. It's new, so the decor is still modern & pretty. The service was average. Everyone was friendly, but English was clearly not their first language and it was difficult to hear over the music. We had 4 diners, 2 meals came out first, then it was like 5 minutes until the other 2, and 1 of those was wrong, it only took like 2 minutes for the replacement to come out. It was certainly not a bad experience. It just wasn't a 5 star experience. We went on a Saturday around 6 pm, and were sat right away, despite the parking lot being nearly full.

Do not listen to Bills review of this place! All other reviews are 100 percent spot on. I’ve heard most people say they’re thinking it’s going to be the same mediocre food like before. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. From the greeting to the food to the exceptional fast friendly service. If you are hesitant to go? Go, go, go!

Went for lunch today...1st time there. Food was DELICIOUS! Free chips and salsa. Had a combo meal... chicken taco and quesidilla with rice and beans. Daughter had a chicken quesidilla. It was huge...stuffed with chicken, onions, peppers...served with rice and beans. She actually said it was the best Mexican meal she's ever had. Everything was fresh and nicely served. Our server was friendly and pleasant. We got a takeout meal to go, which was packaged nicely and included chips and salsa. It was still very hot when we got home 30 mins later. Definitely will go back and highly recommend this place.

Postnote: Steak quesidilla we got to go contained mushrooms .. this was not mentioned on menu. Mushrooms do not belong in a quesidilla. Sadly, it went in the trash. Other than...

I'm so happy to finally have a chance to visit Peppers!

The food was great (better than any other Mexican restaurants in the area). Even simple things like the beans & rice sides - often just an afterthought or plate-filler - were tasty (so nice to not have dried-out rice or watery beans). Sauces were good accompaniments without overwhelming the dish. And portions were very generous.

The staff was very friendly & attentive and service was great - quick and timely without being intrusive.

I'll need to make several more stops to try out all of the items that look really tempting, but I really hope this is the place that can break the jinx on...
