We went out for dinner last Friday evening to the Texas Cajun Café, we ordered their T bone and shrimp special. Folks don't waste your money, this was the worst steak I have ever had at a restaurant. It was so tuff I couldn't hardly cut it with a steak knife. Out of the full steak there may have been about an inch in diameter that was not too tough to eat. It was no more than a quarter of an inch thick, over done and like I said too tough to eat. We ordered the baked potatoes with our meals, which was served about 5 minutes after our steaks arrived. We were told to help our selves to the salad bar, which consist of some lettuce, fake bacon bits, dried up broccoli, bread crumbs and huge chunks of onion. I think they had 3 types of dressing to choose from. None of which were any that I like. The waitress was not very good, looking for the tips and only the tips, she did not bother to ask us how things were she did not bother to ask if we needed a refill on our drinks, she did not even clear off our salad plates from the table. In my opinion the waitress thought herself as being cute and felt she could get by on her looks,& did not have to work. The only good thing about the meal were the shrimp. But paying $19.00 for one dinner and the food is terrible, it is not my...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise this place was to visit. While this quaint unassuming restaurant has fantastic seafood offerings, there are some things that don't come to par in regards to quality. The crinkle cut fries we very sub-par for claiming to be a Cajun style cafe. While chicken fried cob corn sounds good in theory, the final product leaves much to be desired. The corn itself was very bland and seemed to lack sufficient moisture. The texture was not very pleasant. The stars of the show were definitely the cornmeal jumbo fried shrimp and the delicious tartar sauce. The shrimp were butterflied and fried to a golden brown crisp. They were considerably fresh and were well seasoned. The tartar sauce was tangy and tartar and complimented the shrimp perfectly. The service was reasonable, nothing too extraordinary, and the atmosphere, while quaint, did not inspire feelings of being in a Cajun style eatery. It felt more like a barnstyle country type restaurant. Pricing was reasonable based on the local market. Overall, I give this place a...
Read moreWaitress was friendly and had a great personality...but we had to ask for everything, utensils, napkins, refills, sauces etc. We ordered a variety of food and honestly most of it was pretty bad. The crab stuffed jalapeños were actually stuffed with shrimp or crawfish and were very bland! My husband's Mahi Mahi was severely over cooked! The bread on my burger was soggy like it was plopped onto a wet plate. The calamari was frozen and sadly was one of the best items! Red snapper was oka bit bland but honestly the only other good item. The veggies would've been good except they we're also piled with cajun seasoning. Just because the place is supposedly cajun doesn't mean everything has to taste the same, you do need a palette cleansing item on the plate. Management is in need of some assistance, no kids cups, no to go cups. Not really concerned about the old decor but seriously have to have air conditioning! Would've been better off sitting in the parking lot! I do see a bit of potential but someone PLEASE call...
