**EDIT: A HUGE thank you to the owner for reaching out to remedy this situation. Thank you for being proactive and not reactive. Many would be quick to defend themselves but you admitted your faults and offered us a chance to make it right. This is the kind of customer service that will bring patrons back after a not so great experience! We are looking forward to joining you once again for a re-do!
A sad first experience with a place of which we had heard great things! We had a reservation and arrived early and were seated early. The service was excellent at the beginning. Sharon took our order and the appetizer and soups that came with our meals arrived quickly. And that was the end of it. We sat the next 45 minutes waiting for our food while two other tables were seated and served before us, along with countless to go orders going out. When we asked if she could check on our food, Emily did so happily but never returned with any explanation. Neither did Sharon. No one came to update us or offer an apology for the wait. Luckily the restaurant is so small we were able to hear that the kitchen staff lost our ticket when Sharon checked the hostess stand and yelled out to Emily that she had in fact turned it in, "they lost the white copy." We gave them the benefit of the doubt initially, being a Saturday and Valentine's Day weekend, but once a large party of 8 that was sat after us and another table that had a 45 minute wait to even be seated BOTH began receving entrees before we did, we were ready to go. After another 10 minutes with still no visit from our waitress or hostess with an update, I was able to get Emily's attention to let her know we would just take our check, unless the food was almost ready. She finally returned several minutes later to let us know there's been an issue in the kitchen with our ticket and that they decided they wouldn't be charging us for what we had already received, if we wished to leave. Our food had still not been prepared at this point. We were very excited to try out a new (to us) place. I think we wouldn't have been as disappointed if we had not sat so long without the staff acknowledging us and having to find out for ourselves what was going on with our food given its such a...
Read moreIf you can over cook noodles, throw some Ragu sauce on them and cook ground beef then toss salt and parsley on top of it, you can do better than this place. The bread sticks are literally pizza dough.
It’s a grown up version of Chef Boyardee. It’s like you threw some subpar spaghetti in water then tossed salt on it.
The lasagna has almost no ricotta or mozzarella, it’s just over cooked noodles with a pile of ground beef and zero flavor.
I hear some patron and one of the waiters speaking about the mozzarella sticks being gluten free so maybe that’s it. Maybe everything is flavorless and over cooked tasting because of that. Or they bought reviews and/or they have a sign asking for reviews at the door and people haven’t had decent pasta before.
The pizza might be decent. That might be it. But after spending 50 bucks for that experience I don’t think I’m springing for the pizza to try to change my mind.
Don’t get me started on the weird question that the person who I am assuming is the owner asked me about my kid. Just an FYI, don’t make remarks about biracial couples’ kids if it sounds like you’re implying it might not be one of theirs.
The staff seems really nice outside the overprice awful pasta and the questionable interaction we had. Son also pulled down blinds and they were cool about it, so like I said. Nice people, bad pasta, breadsticks, and mozzarella sticks.
Edit in response to owner: It was a 3 minute ride back to the hotel on base. Your food sucks. I wasn’t that mad about the remark just a head’s up. Don’t make me out to be some hate monger because you can’t boil pasta or season sauce properly, and you use pizza dough as breadsticks. You use egg in your gluten free cheese sticks and it’s obvious because you can taste a layer of egg before the cheese. It might be a good gluten free option but to the rest of us it’s not a good cheese stick, and there are a multitude of better ways to offer gluten free...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were looking for a place to meet up with a friend and her new boyfriend for dinner. We took to Yelp to find some place new with good ratings. Sicilian II came up as the highest rated place in the area, so we decided to give it a go.
When we arrived the parking lot was quite full, although the restaurant only had two other parties besides us. The restaurant is on the smaller side with approximately 12 tables. We were greeted by a personable waitress who kept a great demeanor throughout dinner, even when we were joking around with her a bit.
We ordered the calamari and the fried mozzarella for appetizers. I do not eat calamari, but the mozzarella was the best that I have ever had. It was not stringy like most fried mozzarella and seemed to melt in your mouth. The breadsticks were also very delicious and freshly made. My girlfriend got the salad and said the house dressing (Greek I believe) was amazing.
I ordered the meat lovers pizza, it was absolutely amazing, the crust was thin and tasty (I usually skip the crust) and the meats on the pizza were all dynamite! My girlfriend ordered the baked mostaccioli and she is still raving about it. My friend got the stuffed chicken breast which she thoroughly enjoyed and her boyfriend who is a self proclaimed lamb aficionado said that the gyro platter had the best lamb he has ever tasted.
The prices were VERY reasonable and as we were paying, the lady at the register (I would guess the owner/wife) asked us how our meal was with genuine concern.
I will definitely be returning to Sicilian II in the future. The menu has so many amazing choices and after reading more reviews it seems like their dessert is something to look forward to.
TL;DR This place is a gem, if you have not been you are missing out on one of the coast's...
