This place used to be good. That has not been my experience the last several times I have gone there. I would make it a point to eat there whenever I was in Bismarck because they once had the most authentic “East Coast” pizza that I could find in town. Something has changed and, from my perspective, there since has not been anything spectacular in their cuisine ever since.
With the intent to either confirm or deny my opinion I went there again last night. I ordered a standard slice (pepperoni) and a calzone. The slice came out, but no calzone. After a wait of nearly 30 minutes I asked about the calzone; the help went into the kitchen to check on it and came back to tell me it was almost done. Fifteen minutes later they brought it out (a total of 45 minutes really screams the notion that they forgot about cooking it in the first place). It was a calzone, by definition, but not a good one - like the slice it lacked flavor, and was over priced in light of what I was served.
It is not the cleanest dining establishment. I suppose the place is good if you have no standards on food quality and you are just looking for a beer hall to rout about with friends, so I did give it a...
Read moreAt first I did not feel welcomed at this establishment when I came at night time. That quickly changed when the server greeted me and she made a Jack and coke for me. Wanting some food the waitress told me they shut down the kitchen for tonight. So she was very helpful telling me places that were still open. I paid for my drink and thanked her and told her I will come back again. Later in the day I went back and still had this uneasy feeling that I did not belong here (I am used to being greeted and ushered to a table). I quickly found out by a server that Jimmy V’s do things differently. Come on in and find yourself a table (I know they are not the only ones that do this). After this Shane became my server and was awesome at his job. His recommendation on the Stromboli and Zeppoles was on target. The man is great serving people and someone like him is rare. I will not be surprised Shane will do great things with his life now and in the future. Overall I had a great experience and if I am in Bismarck again I will visit Jimmy V’s. Great food, great service, and this time I know I will find a...
Read moreWe love the original restaurant by Kohl's, steak sandwiches are the best and when they had their pizza slices and beer special, we would go often. When they had to move liqueur license to Jimmy V's were disappointed because going downtown is usually not an option. We had the opportunity to try Jimmy V's, nice day garage door was open, had music going, felt like a good atmosphere on first impression. Was told you could get any side with their steak sandwiches, orderes without peppers and onions and cheese curds, husband got a meatball sandwich with a choice of an included side, he got a salad. My sandwich arrived, had peppers and onions, had very little meat, original store meat is packed, my sandwich was tasteless. My husbands meatball sandwich was large, tasteless. Received our bill, we were charged extra for sides. Very disappointed! We will not return. We will stay with Nardellos, by far way better food, even though we cant get a beer. Would not recommend Jimmy V's! Save your money and then you dont have to listen to the F word on every song they play...
