I've been coming to this Sonic for years, and honestly, it's beyond frustrating to keep dealing with the same issue: the drive-in speaker NEVER works. It's unbelievable that a business that relies so heavily on drive-up service hasn't fixed this problem after all this time.
Every time I try to place an order, I have to repeat myself three or four times because they can never hear me clearly. Sometimes they don't even answer, and I end up waiting several minutes not knowing if anyone is even there. Other times, they cut me off saying, “Can you repeat that?” even after I’ve spoken clearly and slowly. This isn’t just a one-time issue—I’ve been dealing with this for years, and nothing ever improves.
I’ve come at different times of day, in different cars, I’ve turned off my music, rolled up my windows—you name it. None of it helps. The microphone system is just awful and the audio quality is terrible. How hard is it to check and fix a basic communication system? It feels like they just don’t care about offering even the most basic level of customer service.
This isn't a one-off experience. It's constant. I don't even expect it to work anymore. You go for convenience and speed, and you end up leaving more stressed than satisfied. In the first 10 min after seeing 2 different cars pull up to the drive thru window (because it was closed) I realized I'd have to help myself. I downloaded the app, created a log in, added my payment info, puchased the card, ordered my food, and notified my stall location signifying I was there and ready for my order. Not one person who came out (3x for sure) or looked out the drive thru window checked on me or figured out I hadn't been helped. I was 1 of 3 cars in the whole parking lot which is ridiculous. The girl that delivered my order, after hearing I'd been sitting there with the call button on for 30 min, said someone didn't hang up from the last order and she'd fix it. Well, gee thanks. My friends try to pay for their drinks, and it does not work. I realize I didnt pay, and a new, careless person comes on. She talks to us like we are fourth graders and I give her my card to pay for MY drink. I made sure to only transfer 5 dollars incase they tried anything, which they did. She said it was declined.
