Took my 91 year old mother in law for her birthday with my wife to gamble and eat at her favorite buffet at 1:30 Tuesday August 7, 2018. Go there several times a year. Not very busy and now know why. Though the salad bar was OK all of the hot food areas were horrible. Either very low on old food and dried up food in all departments. Asian food which was always my favorite was down to nothing or terrible looking the pizza station had a few pieces of barely warm dried up slices on it. The Italian station was dirty and not tended to along with the chicken station and the Mexican station. I stood at the carving board for a few minutes with no response and ended up with some Macaroni with some cheese sauce some sloppy looking BBQ Pork and a piece of chicken for my lunch. None seemed to be manning any of the stations and never made any eye contact so they wouldn"t have to get me anything. Rice pudding looked like soup and the whipped cream and strawberry sauce was runny and all for $15.00 per person. I mentioned this so you can take note of this and perhaps correct this because as a previous restaurant owner for 40 years I would like to have known when something wasn't right at my restaurants so I could correct it. I mentioned this to the cashier and she kind of blew me off and said she would mention this to the chef never saying she was sorry. I doubt it. I hope you can turn this...
Read moreI use to come up to Ameristar for such a great buffet. I have to tell you it was the worse food I can't believe how down hill it had gone. I brought all the people from my business up for our Christmas party to eat and gamble for a night of fun. Going up to the casinos and eating is a big fun part of us going. We went to Monarch last year and it was amazing everyone loved it but this time we were all so disappointed. I should of known when we got there at 630 and there was no line and maybe 30 people in there on a Friday night that was strange. There were such small choices compared to before and most of it I wouldn't even eat the food after we got it. The food was unbelievably bad. If I would of taken the time to do a quick walk through the buffet first we would of left for another casino. This is such a big casino and we enjoyed the gambling and fun but I will never come back for another work party or even the casino. There are so many choices to go to. I know you are very competitive with each other that i sure don't understand why you let this go so bad.I can't tell you how disappointed we all were. How do you go from a 10 to a 1 from such a huge money making casino? It's simply that you just don't care and it shows from all your bad reviews. Well, here is another one from lack of making changes. You also lost thousands of dollars in gambling money as none of us will...
Read moreNo value here. The food was not great.
When I called before coming, the woman on the phone told me it was all you can eat crab legs. You actually only get one serving, and the crab legs were not good.
For the price of the buffet ($50) it just isn't worth it. It has more than doubled in price.
None of the other food was very good either, more like cafeteria food than a good casino buffet. Not worth the price paid, especially considering they limit the amount of crab you get. The prime rib was overcooked, the taco bar was bland, the whole thing was lacking.
The food at Ameristar in general has gone way down hill. Considering how good the buffet is at the Monarch and the lodge I probably won't return to this one. The other food options here are also lacking, both the fireside and timberline.
My advice to the establishment would be to replace the food and beverage manager with someone who knows what they are doing. This is just pathetic.
The service was good, but it's a buffet.
The wait to get in was over 30min.
Overall a very disappointing experience for $190 for three, after tip. It's a $25...
