Eggs Up Grill — Restaurant in Blacksburg

A lot about eggs up is nice. I love the silly egg puns in their art. There was no wait. The atmosphere is generally warm, cheery, and comfortable (yet fun). The menu had a lot of options for a variety of pallets (not a whole lot that was egg-less, but really that's to be expected). I was really impressed when my friend asked whether the dish contained her allergy. Instead of just guessing, the woman found the actual ingredients list and brought it to our table! That was fantastic.

A couple of cons: we were never offered refills. The eggs Benedict were overcooked, the avacodo toast portion was surprisingly small. It all seemed a little pricey for what you were actually getting (though the omelets were sufficient size). I don't really feel wowed enough that I'd want to come back. Stopped by for brunch on Sunday at 10AM and the place was packed full! It seems word is getting out about this place as it's a nice little brunch spot. Even with how full it was the two of us were seated within 2 minutes. Our waitress was very attentive and service was great. I ordered the caramel apple crisp pancakes as they were highlighted as a top option. I was worried it may feel loaded with sugar but it honestly almost felt healthy! The pancakes themselves were very crisp which was a fun texture, even my husband who had normal pancakes, they have a nice outer crust, no soggy pancakes here. Great spot to get breakfast, but with local competitors like Our Daily Bread, Gillies, Joe’s Diner, and a variety of coffee shops it faces an uphill battle. We definitely enjoyed our food, but I would not say it’s better or worse than any of the other options in the area. Really it’s just dependent on the atmosphere and type of breakfast food you’re looking for. Overall I will definitely be coming back here, but maybe not before I go to one of the other options.
