Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in Blacksburg

In my eyes, there are only a few mainstream restaurants in Blacksburg that are worthy of a 5 star rating. This Jersey Mike's is one of them. Let me break it down why...

The Food: it is incredibly fresh and delicious. The meats are sliced right in front of you and the produce is crisp and colorful. It's night and day compared to Subway whose veggies are typically pale and soggy.

The Service: as good as the food is, the service is even better. I've never seen such a sincere staff before. They are always kind, pleasant, and helpful. They are also very welcoming. I work from home and I appreciate my breaks in the day where I can get a sandwich and chat with these nice people.

They know my name, they know my order, and they even remember my old pup and what he gets to eat. He typically comes along with me though he hangs out in the car waiting for his turkey slices!

A big part of this location's success is due to the manager, Evan. The guy has an incredible work ethic that is reflected in his staff and the food they make. He's always positive and greeting guests and working hard on running a well-maintained store.

A long review but I mean each word. The location also caters so it is a fantastic place to call ahead for sporting events, parties, or business meetings. Overall, the staff is perfect and so is the food. In my opinion, they outclass every other mainstream restaurant in town so go...

Picked my wife up from a bridal shower about 4:30 on a Sunday and was starving. I have been wanting to try Jersey Mike's for a while now so we swung in and rolled up to the counter hungry. They asked if we were first time customers and we said yes. They explained the menu to us very well. We decided on on our sandwiches and ordered. Everything was ready super quick. When we checked out, we were given two free cookies and told it was their "cookie for a rookie" policy. We have our own "never turn down a free cookie" policy so that worked out great. Once we got home I dug into my Big Kahuna Cheese Steak and buddy... it was good. I am a Cheese Steak snob so I'm not gonna go easy on a sandwich place if they are slipping. Jersey Mike's comes correct. Plenty of cheese, good quality steak, just the right amount of peppers and mushrooms. The Big Kahuna comes with jalapenos and those were proportioned well, also. My wife always orders a Ham & Cheese plain so you can't do too much with that. She reported that the meat and cheese were great quality. Just a note... they do cold subs and hot subs. My review has nothing to do with the food or quality of the food, but everything to do with the rude cashier named Laura in hopes that management will see this and do some thing about her as she was just rude to me and very hateful from the start because I had a community-based football program coupon to buy one get one free sub, which she did not know how to use in the cash register and then apparently it was a really big inconvenience for her that she had to use the scissors that they have sitting there for the specific coupons And cut it out while smartly saying you’re welcome before handing the coupon back. I don’t know why management would let a rude woman like this work there who is hateful to complete strangers who were nothing but polite to her but that is probably an indication why she is 45+ years old working at a fast food restaurant Treating people with disrespect. I hope they see this review and do something about her as everybody already knows that the fast food market service has went down the drain since Covid and they should not allow people to continuously have rude and hateful attitudes towards their customers, for no reason...
