My first visit to Clive’s may not be as positive as I had hoped but it is not preventing me from delivering a fair review. I appreciated the fact that our party of 6 was seated immediately to a large, socially distanced table in an area with a comfortable ambiance. And treated by a friendly staff
I was ready for a beer and the server ran through the list of beers with a member of our party. I requested a non IPA craft beer as I was not in my home state and was unfamiliar with the local beers. The server simply repeated the list of available tap beers at a speed that left me only recognizing the words Coors Lite and Blue Moon. Disappointingly, he stated he would repeat the list once everyone who wanted beer was ready to listen. I had hoped for a recommendation yet instead I had to visit the bar to read the names off of the Taps. The server obviously not familiar or confident enough to recommend a beer.
Our orders were placed and did not take long to receive with the exception of one chicken sandwich. We had to wait only a few more minutes for it to arrive.
I ordered a roast beef dip sandwich. The au jus had no beef flavor rather it resembled and tasted like olive oil but with less flavor. It neither enhanced nor detracted from the rather plain flavor of the beef. Yes, I was disappointed. With only one, perhaps two, exceptions, the other meals were tasty and well received. But how can you mess up 2 burgers and a lettuce wrap?
The giant burrito was HUGE! It was set on a plate of nachos making cutting the burrito more difficult but not impossible. It was expected the burrito would have a nice mix of flavors enhanced by seasoning and/or sauces. However, i was told it tasted like the inside looked. Fillings with no seasoning or sauces.
While I may not make Clive’s a first choice at my next visit, 50% of my party were very satisfied and would likely request eating at Clive’s again, thus I am providing them with a 4 star review. Would 3 be appropriate? Possibly but the truth is, we all ate our entire meal. I may try a burger next time, if there is...
Read moreAwful, awful service. Heard that our family was there so we stopped by last second, we were there maybe 45 minutes tops before they came over and decided to kick us out without proper reason. We had only ordered some refreshments but had we wanted food it would have been impossible because the waitress was barely even on the floor, much less in our section, and never ever at our table. There were 3 underage just drinking soda or drinks from home, at least 5 adults just drinking water or soda, and maybe 3 or 4 at most drinking alcoholic drinks. Clive's Roadhouse claimed the waitress “felt uncomfortable continuing to serve us” and that they could no longer serve our table alcohol despite the fact that the people drinking alcohol were still on their first or second drinks. Our waitress was disrespectful and rude, and when we’d try to order, instead of writing it down and being a proper waitress, she’d question our decisions and give major attitude. Whether it was because of being purely unprofessional, maybe eavesdropping and disliking our conversations (although none of our topics were even serious or in any way inappropriate) or maybe because myself and my boyfriend arrived and are of diverse backgrounds, her attitude was absolutely disgusting and unfitting as a worker in a restaurant environment. Both our family was offended and surprised, along with the table near us as they also left a negative (fitting, and well deserved) review. The only other reason we could think for her “feeling uncomfortable” was because she might have been upset because when she took over our table we offered to close our first tab with the previous waitress so she could get her well...
Read moreOriginal review 1 star. “Id give it zero stars if i could but one is the lowest i can go. I got take out that was the bbq pulled pork sandwich and teriyaki stir fry. The sandwhich was dry and almost no bbq sauce. The stir fry wasnt horrible but the greens were undercooked. Overall it was very disappointing. In addition the fries were also disappointing as they were tough and chewy and not like waffle fries should be. A waste of 35$, if you ask me.”
Follow Up Review 2 Stars for excellent hospitality. Management contacted me quickly following my previous order. They corrected it by refunding and issuing a giftcard and invited us to give them another try by dining in. I was pleasantly surprised with their quick hospitality. My girlfriend and I went this evening for their dinner service. We started with cheese curds which were alright but a little heavy on the breading. The sauce that came with the curds were delcious. For our entrees we ordered the mac n cheese with cajun shrimp and the Clives jambalaya. The mac n cheese sauce was very watery, the cheese that was used tasted cheap, and the breading on the mac was on the chewy side. As for the Jambalaya it was really tomatoey and quite disappointing flavor wise, it was not how a jambalaya should taste. The shredded chicken within the jambalaya was more like giant chicken chunks. We finished nether dish and left hungry. Our server (Taylor T.) was amazing, she kept our drinks filled and constantly checked in to see how the food was. All in all if you want drinks and a calmer atmosphere go to clives, unless you are more interested in food services then...
