UMBRIA Gourmet Pizzeria — Restaurant in Blaine

I'm really disappointed with this place. We live a couple of blocks from it and I was looking forward to becoming a regular customer (We were so excited that someone so close offered vegan pizzas). We ordered two pizzas on the Friday before last. I placed the order online around 3 hours in advance of when we needed the pizza for a small party I was hosting. I called when the pizza was around 20 minutes late and no one picked up the phone. I called again and was told it was in the car and would be here in ten minutes. I called again when it was 50 minutes late and was told it was a "remake" and it would be there in 15 to 20 minutes. The food didn't arrive until 7:30, an hour and a half later than the time that was specified. I didn't want to put more strain on the team working that night so I emailed the catering email to explain the situation and tell someone that I didn't feel that I should have to pay full price for it and would at least like to be reimbursed for the tip that I paid in advance. I got an email back from one of the consultants of the company and he told me that he would get me taken care of and that I'd hear back from him soon. I never did hear back despite following up with him four days later. It's now been over a week. I don't enjoy writing this. I never leave bad reviews for places. I'm especially disappointed because we enjoyed the food. I just feel completely disregarded. I can't believe that I was not able to find anyone that would...

Ok, I'm just giving my honest opinion of the place based on many years of ordering from them.

Several years ago, their food was hands-down one of the best around (especially the pizza and gyros). Since it was sold to a new owner a few years ago, many of the recipes have changed for the worse. Pizza is not as good as it once was and meat-to-filler ratio for pretty much every sandwich has gone from 60/40 meat to filler to 20/80 meat to filler (by filler I mean vegetables and bread).

For their asking prices I expect a sandwich to be well stocked with meat. A good example would be comparing them to Holy Land off Central/Lowry. The prices are about the same, but Holy Land packs their sandwiches with enough meat to satisfy even the biggest appetite.

The reason I'm writing this review is because I've finally had enough of the disappointment. We ordered 4 gyros tonight and all of them had different amounts of meat, all of which were less than a 1/6 of a pound and were dried out. If we weren't so hungry and impatient this evening I would have driven them straight back and returned them.

The reason I'm giving them an extra star (3 instead of 2) is because they genuinely seem to try to make things right when people are unhappy with their food or service.

The bottom line though, is that I won't be spending any more of my money here from now on... not until I hear or see that they've made some needed adjustments to their portion sizes and...

Very friendly staff. Very quick and food was very hot. Food was prepared quickly. But I ordered the capicola and was expecting a spicy delicious pizza. Very disappointed in the food. Five star everywhere else one star for the food. I will order once more to give them another try. But I will never order that style pizza again. The meat should have been spicy. And really the only thing that I could taste on the pizza was the banana peppers. I was really disappointed because I read many excellent reviews. Unfortunately my first pizza from these guys was really lacking any taste. Spent $25 on an extra large pizza that should have been much better in quality and taste. I was really hoping that their sauce would have some type of spicy or sweet taste. Instead I think they went really safe and use sauce that has the same taste as every other pizza place out there. Again, the guys that were there were the most friendly I've talked to. I'm very disappointed that I I am given such a critical review of this place because these guys were so nice and helpful.
