Went in at 3pm on a Saturday. Only 3 tables were seated. 5 people seated total. There are 3 different menus scattered. One appears to be a daily menu written on a chalk board. The other a hand written one at the counter. Then the laminated ones they give you. One server. She never once came to our table. We had to walk around across the room to the different menus to figure out what we wanted. We stayed basic. Fish sandwhich and a chicken sandwhich with sweet potatoe fries. Fish sandwhich was good. Chicken was good but extremely dry. Very dry. 2 employees were sitting in the lobby at a customer table watching a movie on a laptop. We had to get up from our table and walk up to them to request drink refills and a to go box. Then you also have to get up and walk back up to the counter to order your food as well. And you pay before you get your food. They also ask for a tip then before any possible customer service is given out. Which it never was our entire stay. 5 customers with 6 employees, 2 of which watching movies must be too busy. Our food for two sandwiches came out to $40. Not worth it at all. Customer service and setup alone will keep us away. Fix the setup. Get ONE menu. Have your wait staff actually wait on customers. And don’t ask for payment and tip before service is rendered.

Overall this was a good restaurant. We really enjoyed the diner atmosphere and decor. We went as a family of four and waited about 20-30 minutes for our food on a Monday night at 5pm. We got the barbecue and dark rum reduction 12pc wings which were very good. Idk how the wings were prepared and cooked but let me tell you by far one of my favorite wings I’ve had. They were crispy and didn’t leave me feeling sick like most fried wings make me feel. The barbecue sauce was great, very classic type sauce. The dark rum reduction was okay but it was very very sweet. We then got the great northern and the hula slider with a bun and lettuce wrap respectively. We also got a great norther burger as well with a lettuce wrap. The burgers were okay, we requested them to be cooked medium but the were overdone and kinda dry. But on the bright side the burgers were a good size even on the sliders. Honestly the slider/burgers were okay we just don’t think they were worth the price you pay for them. We also got a side of onion rings, fried zucchini, and sweet potato fries. GET THE FRIED ZUCCHINI!!! It was phenomenal and we would go back just for them. The sweet potato fries were also very crispy and there was a healthy serving of them as well.

Is this considered a hidden gem because everyone should know about it! Bergstrom's burger is a really solid burger offering in the Traverse City area. We were looking for a place to eat after commuting from Chicago for a bachelor party & this spot popped up. After walking inside, it instantly had that local diner feeling to it. The staff greeted us & helped support our orders based on their favorites. I was unsure if I should get onion rings, sweet potato fries, or regular fries. They were kind enough to give me a mix of all three! All of the burgers on the menu looked delicious, but I settled on the great northern burger. The ingredients were fresh & the burger was cooked perfectly for my liking. The owner stopped by our table to say hi & thank us for stopping in. The waitress was attentive while filling up our drinks/checking in on us. The interior fits their logo. The ceiling has a lot of really neat vintage records. The bathrooms were clean, which is an added plus. Overall, this is an excellent local spot to catch a bite to eat. If I were in the local area, I'd make sure to stop by each week for a bite to eat!

We've been wanting to eat here for a while.

As a full-time single dad of 4...it's always a treat to take the kids out to eat.

Total cost was about $42.00 for four plus tip.

We were in town last night for our Costco run and decided to finally try this place out.

The kids each ordered a kids cheeseburger and fries. Two milkshakes and one rootbeer float. I ordered their special a brunch burger.

The children went crazy when their shakes and float arrived. Premium ice cream (Moomers)...real fruit...whipped cream squeezed from a bag. They all said it was the best shakes and float they've ever had.

The food came. I had asked for the burgers to be cooked medium. I can count on one hand the amount of times a burger is actually cooked medium. These were perfect. The children pounded these burgers.

The brunch burger...

I have had a ton of burgers with an egg on them nation wide.

This was by far the best.

The egg was cooked perfectly...the yoke oozed. There were crisp hashbrowns, bacon, melted cheese and a killer aoli sauce.

The patty was not paper thin and cooked perfectly medium.

The owner came out when he had time and personally checked on every table to be sure everyone was happy.

Before becoming a single dad...I traveled extensively. One of my favorite things is to arrive in some random town and try a burger at a pub or independent somewhere.

Bergstrom's Burgers is now in the top three I've had. We are lucky we only live 2 hours north and come to Traverse City regularly.

The cost is more than fast food. But, they passed the test. I ate there and was able to drive home...no tums...no running into a gas station squeezing a quarter.

I am very sensitive to fast food...

Bergstrom's...

We are lucky to have several amazing burger joints in Traverse City. In our opinion, this is the best burger joint in the area. In fact, we believe it is one of the best plates of food in all of Grand Traverse County.

At first glance, you might think that the dining area isn’t much to look at. It seems messy and cluttered, but that's because there’s so much to look at. It is filled with 80’s memorabilia. The ceiling is tiled with classic 80’s records, most from the owner’s personal collection. There is so much memorabilia that the owner told me they are considering applying for recognition as an 80’s museum.

And speaking of the owners, they are soft spoken but very willing to engage with you in conversation, they walk the dining room floor every night and introduce themselves to anyone that might not have been there before. They are very personable and very friendly.

But let’s get to the food, because it is outstanding. The milkshakes are thick, they don’t skimp on the ice cream. With large servings of tasty fries and perfectly crisp hush puppies, there is more than enough food to fill you up. But of course, the burger takes top billing here.

These burgers are on another level. We’ve tried the Plain, the Bacon Raclette, and the Great Northern. All were outstanding… The burgers were thick, juicy and well-seasoned, every bite was packed with flavor. I’ve eaten lots of great burgers in my life, and the Great Northern is in my top three burgers...

Living up in TC, we had to try Bergstrom Burgers since it’s such a local spot up here! Looking at all their social media content, reviews on Google & their Facebook page, I had very high hopes for this place!

Lemme start off with the service being great!! Our server lady was very polite and curious and the chef came to talk to us at our table (he did talk for a long time while we were finished eating but we didn’t mind). He was very polite and shared lots of information of other local restaurants and history of his business.

A table of 4 of us came in and lemme just say, I’m just disappointed in the food. Their chicken tenders were very dark colored in the breading & tasted fishy (like deep fried fish) and was very plain. Their ranch was super sub-par and was very disappointing knowing it was house made. Their burgers are just “ok” & very expensive for how they taste- ($17 a burger that was lacking flavor). They have a lot of sauce options with is awesome (jerk sauce, bbq, Buffalo, etc) but none of them tasted super great to me, seems like they add more flavor to their sauce rather than their meats and breading. Their bbq has an Asian flavor with it and they do not have a classic “bbq” sauce.

Overall, spent over $70 for 4 people for lunch and left disappointed. Definitely not worth all the hype & 5...
