I ordered a cake and drove almost 2 hours to pick it up. When I got there, I was told by the hostess they didn't have any orders. I was asked to show proof of my order, which I did. Then, we sat while she figured it out. She returned and said someone would be there in about 30 minutes to talk to me about my order.
The person finally came, apologized, and told me they would cook the cake I ordered and traveled to pick up. I was told it would be about an hour before it was ready. We told them we had driven a long way and were willing to wait and appreciated them cooking it for me: Through all this, my husband and I assured them it was fine and we would wait. We were very calm and polite. Granted, we had our four-year-old twins with us, so it was very frustrating, to say the least, but I have Celiac and really wanted the gluten-free king cake, and had been looking forward to it all week.
We figured since we had to wait, we would try their food. There was no gluten-free menu, even though we were told one of the owners has Celiac as well. My husband ordered boudin balls and was unimpressed, as they are not authentic boudin. My kids ordered the gator bites and fries, but they did not eat them, and my husband said he didn't blame them for not eating the fries. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was nothing to write home about. My husband ordered a po’ boy and asked for the banana peppers on the side. It came out with the bell peppers on the side and banana peppers all over it. We ate and waited, our kids growing increasingly restless as time went on.
The server was very young and obviously inexperienced as she stood on the side of the table with my kids to hand plates over. She also left the front door open at one point, allowing cold air to pour in. My husband had to close the door for her because she apparently didn't notice it. And she put his sandwich order in wrong, At about 6:10 -after being in the restaurant for over an hour- our server said my cake would be ready in “just a minute.” We waited some more.
After 10 mins, my husband decided to take one of my kids to the truck and go ahead and get it started (it's a diesel, if you know, you know).
At 6:25, one of the owners came to the table and asked how everything was. I told her it was good (because my momma raised me to be polite), and she proceeded to tell me the tip my husband left was “rude,” seeing as they were “going out of their way to make it right.” I'm a little confused as to how driving 30 minutes to the restaurant she owns and baking the cake that was ordered four days in advance is going out of her way. I would say that driving almost two hours and sitting in a restaurant with my 4-year-old twins for nearly two more hours was a better representation of going out of the way. Until then, my husband and I had been frustrated but not angry. However, this made us both very angry. No, we did not leave a big tip. We did not have great service from the server. We had been inconvenienced by the whole situation but kept our cool, and we had already stayed to eat even though we didn't plan to and therefore spent $50 more in their establishment than we had planned to. We found this behavior from the owner shocking as they are a small business and did not have a lot of traffic the whole time we were there.
I waited ten more minutes after this incident. I finally had to take my other child to the truck because he was fed up with being there, and I went back in to continue waiting. Finally, I walked out with my cake at 6:40 pm after arriving to pick it up at 5 pm.
I will not go back, and will not recommend it to anyone for anything.

Read moreFor sure not what we expected for our first visit. My wife and I are true foodies. My wife had the gumbo, the overall flavor seemed confined to the broth, and around the broth line. She felt the Gumbo was more rice, soup filler with very little meat. We were expecting something more savory through and through. Especially the meat, there wasn't a lot of Flavor there. My daughter had the Chicken tenders on a salad, she was caught off guard not expecting a house ranch dressing, not that it's a bad thing the ranch is an inhouse buttermilk ranch. That wouldn't even pour out of the container it has a sourceam consistency. I had the Gator-bites PO-Boy, as well as finished off the Cajon Popcorn (crawfish tails). Granted the PO -Boy was good, you may want to ask for it lightly toasted, just to cut down on Crumbs. With all that being said, The Owner did offer an apology, and expressed that the overall experience wasn't their normal flow they had experienced several setbacks that day. He also asked us to visit again to get what should be the normal experience. Total cost for 3 people with food and drinks with one appetizer we paid roughly $72 with tip. For the price we would have expected more bang for the buck. I will prob give it a few months and give it a second try, at that point I will look to post a...
Read moreI really hate to be this guy but I’m gonna. I was really excited to try this place as most of my family is cajun and I grew up eating cajun/Louisiana style my whole life but I was slightly disappointed with my meal. We ordered the voodoo fries as an appetizer but it just wasn’t really what we were expecting. It tasted more like bar food than a cajun appetizer, however I will say the shrimp on the voodoo fries were pretty good. Me and my girlfriend both got a shrimp po boy and while they were big they just tasted a little bland, and with the bun not being toasted just not what we were expecting. Collards tasted very bland. We ordered Bingets for desert and they tasted very doughy. The service was pretty good and the front of house manager/co-owner was extremely nice. The atmosphere just felt kind of off which I think could be fixed with a little bit of music going on to really lock in that Louisiana vibe. I really love the idea of this restaurant as cajun cooking is my favorite food to eat, and I’m definitely willing to keep trying this place, I just think it needs to work on some things to really grasp that authenticity. Thank you guys for the meal and I’d like to see how you guys grow here in...
