Who is ready for a home cooked meal? The décor of this local hotspot is very similar to your grandmother’s house. Yes, it is dated. Yes, it is casual. Yes, it has a specific smell. Not a bad smell just a specific one. But you go there for the family and not the décor. I was here during lunch, and the place was packed with locals and regulars. The staff were relaxed and nice, which made for a relaxing lunch after a busy work morning. It seemed like they knew almost every person at the restaurant, well except my co-workers and I. Being new to this restaurant, it took some time to get used to the lingo, but after everyone received Lays Potato Chips with their meal instead of what we thought was home fries we started catching on. There was a lot of different things on the menu that sounded good or if you do not want to order a la cart you can just get there what looks to be a buffet, but for whatever reason everyone decided to order a sandwich. None, of the sandwiches were a show stopper, but they did the job. I cannot say that the food was bad, nor can I say that the food was great. However, based on the décor of the restaurant it was clear this was not going to be a fine dining experience, but more like food that you would cook at home, and you are a computer programmer for a living ;). If you are in the area and are looking for a quick affordable bite to eat this local hotspot is your place. It beats going to a chain restaurant that seem to surround this area.

A well located country style restaurant with a stream of guests frequenting this eatery. They have cafeteria style dining on weekdays, which provides some wholesome and good value meals. The meat and three veg--for example--is a mere $7.99. One of our party was a vegetarian. She was more-or-less out-of-luck and ended up ordering a rather dull baked potato and decent side salad. The men folk both ordered the special, which was Turkey, stuffing with fried green beans and mash. It came with corn bread or a roll. The turkey was moist and quite palatable. The stuffing was essentially highly salted cornbread--nothing to write home about--but edible. The service was slow, like a four star restaurant, but without fancy food. The gravy tasted like a simple packet mix...hardly home-made country cooking. To add insult to injury, the waitress brought us the check prematurely as if her shift were over. The turkey special included a choice of cupcake, which had been hastily omitted. Another waitress assigned to another table did finally bring us some weeny little cupcakes. It wasn't terrible, but I certainly wouldn't go back.

Friendly waitress! The grilled chicken breasts with 2 sides ($14.99) were tender (some garlic and seasoning would've been good on them). The 2 breasts are covered with swiss but barely enough mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. Im not a fan of the tasteless diced tomatoes on it. The fries tasted like they were old. I only ate a couple because of it and will order the salad next time. Cooks onion rings are the best around with their homemade sauce. The sweet tea ($2.75) is the best around here. Im not sure how much sugar is in there but yum. Sadly they're no longer serving their delicious sweet tea in the mountain brew tin cups that kept our tea ice cold. My credit card convenience fee (3%) was .53 so I am going back to paying with cash to save where I can. $24.50 plus $5 tip for "Grilled chicken with favorites and an iced tea"

HORRIBLE! VISITORS BEWARE! We went there yesterday right after the "buffet" closed down. For an appetizer we ordered the fried pickles. The amount of salt in the batter was CRAZY and really ruined the food. For our meal, I ordered three vegetables--collard greens, green beans and mashed potatoes. My husband ordered a well-done hamburger steak and mashed potatoes. Part of his meat was so raw, he couldn't eat it. Our two grandchildren ordered from the kids menu--two chicken fingers with mashed potatoes and we paid extra for corn bread. It took over 45 minutes to get our food. The food was served cold, the mashed potatoes were instant and since I don't eat pork or beef, I asked about what was in the two green vegetables. At first she could only say that meat was not added. When I asked her to confirm (this took a long while) she did but after I ate, I realized why she didn't know. They come from a can. We were excited to have dessert but those look like they came from the freezer section of the grocery store. Also, I had to get up twice--to ask for jelly and ask another question. The only thing above satisfactory, the tea and the ice. DON'T WASTE YOUR...

Friendly despite being busy, this was a great place to drop in for a late lunch.

Country Fried Steak was very crispy, yet fork tender! Gravy was perfect and super hot temp wise. (I hate when the gravy is not as hot as the steak!)

The sirloin was ordered medium rare and was delivered to the table exactly as. So refreshing to find somewhere that gets it right.

Fries were good... could have been a little more, but I am beginning to think that is a me problem, LOL

The salad bar was simple, but exactly what was needed for a side salad, plus you then get to build it the way you want.

OMG the cups were a mouth dropping surprise! Hahahaha! You have to see the pictures!

There are a couple other things of note... they have a "need a meal, take a meal board" with the receipts of the meal someone was given on it. If you feel in your heart to pay the restaurant for the meal they have given someone, then you can do so. ❤️

The other thing is a small alcove of items for sale... we poked around to see what was there and ended up with an Oleg Cassini cut crystal candle stand (in the original box) for less than 25% list. Maybe you should...
