Avenue Pizza — Restaurant in Bloomfield

Really sad I had to even write this review. I discovered this restaurant on tiktok and was excited because I saw it was right around the corner from my home. Also, I'm originally from NYC so when I saw that they make NYC Style chopped cheese I decided to try it out. My first experience ordering via doordash the quality of the food & service was good (Not sure if it's because they know you can get you money back) However, when cold calling in an order not so much. I literally received stale fries which I can tell for fact are old or have been sitting out & then just reheated. Which totally ruined my dinner when combined with the sandwich. Also, delivery guy forgot my drink, although he did offer to go back. I wasn't going to wait more time. Also they charge a mandatory $2 delivery fee which go's to the delivery driver which I think is fair however, they don't disclose that so you may over tip not knowing he/she is already receiving payment for the delivery. Normally, I'd tip a couple of bucks regardless & wouldn't care but possibly paying extra for stale food is not cool at all. I don't think I'll be ordering from...

Used to love this place and ordered from here regularly, until I made an order through GrubHub. I accidentally ordered pick up instead of delivery. I called the restaurant, explained the issue; they gave me GrubHub customer service # because they were unable to help me out, as per which ever male I spoke to that Friday night. I called GrubHub; they were also unable to get my order delivered to me. I canceled my order and asked for a full refund. GrubHub stated that one of their representatives needed to call Avenue Pizza first to see if I was able to get a refund for a pizza I never received. I was on this phone call for about 45 mins, I’d like to point out that Avenue Pizza is a 7 minute drive away from my address (the address I wanted the food delivered to) and I couldn’t pick up the order because I was working and the order was for my kids who were home. My order was unable to be refunded and my order was unable to be delivered. I was charged 30$ for a pizza that was made, never delivered, or picked up. Ordered from here several times with no issue (it was good enough to order multiple times in spite of their inordinately high prices) but this past Saturday I ordered a Caesar salad with steak and a thin crust pizza anticipating having it for most of a week's lunch for work. About an hour or so after eating some of both I was pouring sweat, had chills, was nauseous and had a headache. Couldn't move for 2 days, no energy, and could barely function. I had to throw out $40+ worth of food and when I called to advise them, the person I spoke to told me no one had ever gotten sick from their food and offered me 25% off my "next" order. There won't be a next order, especially since the doctor confirmed today (i am still feeling effects) that it was definitely food poisoning and within the time frame I fell ill, it was definitely this meal. A refund would have been nice but instead the manager or whomever implied that i was lying or trying to grift for something for nothing.
