Okay, again, I typically do not give bad reviews. I apologize for the length of this review in advance. However, this place in Newark, NJ, deserves every bit of this lengthy review! Let me begin with this. When I travel across the US either on business or pleasure. I will always stop into a Chipotle franchise because they have GF options, and the food is fresh and (depending on what you order) healthy. Also, when I am with my husband, we always order two of each dish. Well, while traveling through Essex county NJ, the one nearest my location was on Bloomfield Ave in Newark. I am excited to get our standard dishes. I was met with the most rude server ever! Who then went on to say I could not order more than 3 items. I asked if this was a Newark thing? She said "No it's a Chipotle thing!" I mentioned that this is my go-to place, and that is not true. She continued to debate me on this. She said, "If you want more than three items, you must order online." I said, "I am not getting out of line to do that. By now, you could have made my dishes without all of this debate." She finally relented and said I am lucky that there are only 2 people in line behind me. (During this time, the other staff that were in the front of the store when I walked in had gone to the back, because the line of customers had great reduced), leaving only this rude woman and a trainee up front. So, as she and the trainee are preparing my food, she is rolling her eyes and rushing me along. (BTW, I was shocked by her behavior because, as a woman of a certain age. She was demonstrating behavior of someone just starting out in life with no home or work training). Meanwhile, I am keeping an eye on her to make sure she doesn't do anything to my food. While repeating myself to the trainee to make sure he is putting the correct items on my dishes. I finally pay and leave. Well, when we sit down to eat the food, both dishes (Hubby's was a chicken bowl, mine veggie salad), both were SO SALTY we couldn't eat them. We ended up throwing away our bowls and giving our other bowls to those in need. Please avoid the Chipotle on Bloomfield Ave. Newark NJ, if you value your mental and physical health. To Chipotle Corp., please do a total retraining of the staff on customer service and food preparation. There is no reason for any food to be that SALTY unless you're trying to put people in the hospital.
Update: To the owner, thank you for reaching out and expressing concern over this matter. You ask that I share more details. So, I will describe the people approximate time and the date, etc. This happened around 1500 hrs on Friday, 29Mar24. To be clear, I ordered 2 double chicken bowls and 2 veggie bowls, and my husband reminded me that I also ordered one chicken burrito for someone else. The rude server was a short white woman of a certain age. The trainee was a taller young Latino male. By the way, he was pleasant. I understood why he kept asking what I wanted multiple times. Because he wanted to get the order right. My husband could not believe the amount of liquid cheese they put all over his bowl. He had to remove the layer of liquid cheese before taking a bite. He thought that the excessive amount of cheese they slathered on his chicken bowl (with brown rice) was the cause of the high concentration of salt. As he tried to take a second bite from the bottom of the bowl, he realized that was not the case. However, my veggie bowl (with white rice) did not have meat or cheese, and it too was extremely SALTY. Maybe your store is over salting the rice as well as the beans. Let me also say this. I was excited to see a woman of a certain age behind the counter. As a woman of a certain age myself, I naturally think that we pay more attention to detail and we are more conscious of customer service. HOW WRONG I WAS. So, not only was I treated horribly, but my food was not edible! On top of the money I spent for the food. This experience ranks up there as number 3 for the worst restaurant experiences that I have encountered. I do hope this answers...
Read moreI’ve never had issues in any other chipotle but this one…. ugh!!! Felt the need to leave a review because for some reason my boyfriend and I have some sort of issue with the chipotle in Bloomfield EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It’s five minutes away from our house but I might as well drive the extra ten and go to Kearny. Went yesterday and ordered through the app, and used 700 points for extra steak. Keep in mind you pay extra for steak alone… The order was promised to be ready at 7:20 and the guy handed it to me at 7:31, as ALWAYS late with orders. That’s nothing compared to one time they made me wait about 40 minutes and they didn’t want to make my order in the regular side where people build it because I had ordered through the app already. Anyways, I go to my car and start eating and there was 0 steak, and I could taste some other kind of meat, on top of that it had a little bit of peppers and onions which I hadn’t asked for. I was whatever about it cause I just took them out after but as my boyfriend says, what if it was someone allergic? I go back inside and tell the guy that it had no steak it had something else and his response was “oh it’s because at the time I made your order there was no steak so we use chicken instead”… Mind you this was probably 2 minutes after he had done my order and the steak was low, meaning they DID have steak and probably fd up. He never asked me if I was okay with having chicken instead or if I wanted something else or if I was okay with waiting extra minutes for steak, like they’ve asked me before at other chipotles when they run out. I was expecting him to naturally take it back and fix it but he just stood still staring at me so I said “ok? Can you remake it then cause I paid for steak not chicken???” He went to the “manager”, probably a 19 years old straight out of high school, and she gave the most disgusting attitude and told him “just give her the steak”, he came up to me and I was like fine but it’s double steak btw. He gave me my steak and I ran out. NEVER AGAIN. I give up with this chipotle. Go elsewhere! It seems like all the fresh out of high school kids are working in this one, they laugh and joke around with each other while people are desperately waiting for their food. -10/10 for service.
Edit: Reached out to chipotle and they reached back, they took care of me for this bad experience. I truly appreciated it, as other companies wouldn’t bother to care. Never expected a chain company to care for their paying customers this much, so it amazed me at how fast they actually got back to me and took care of the situation. Never have had an issue with the food or chipotle itself, just this one location and the people working in it. Everything else, Amazing!...
Read moreI simply went here to compare chipotles this the third chipotle I went to this week and was disappointed cuz it seem as tho just becuz it’s in a safer area mean it’s suppose to be better in more than one way right?…YA BIG WRONG… the first person you see is usually get the most heat from people when they ask if they have something and don’t. I have learned FROM HERE if they don’t have what you WANT just don’t order! I just came from the Newark chipotle they didn’t have the brisket so I still order a bowl by the time I got to wanting lettace she had to push it down to put the lid on. I only got rice beans pork light hot sauce corn cheese lettace every time. So I went to the Bloomfield location hoping they have the brisket they didn’t i didnt hold that against them tho I still wanted to get another bowl since I waited in line for 20plus mins. I wanted a bowl girl gave me a scoop and a half of rice a scoop of beans and a scoop of chicken…… my experience at the other location have been 2 and a half scoops of rice I’m asking for a bowl that’s my base. Like that joke that came out about the chipotle workers taking the leftover food home was a joke but I think it’s true cuz girl gave me a scoop of bean and a scoop of chicken BUT when it come to the cheese and lettace they start spreading they hand out wide to get the most it was giving salad … by the time it came to pay I told them I ain’t want it 😂 I was fixin to leave but I realize I forgot chips so I went back in with my other bowl and chick at the register did a double take like where this bowl come from.. it’s also givin there was no manager on site here. My experience at the other locations they made they presence known they be workin but folks know they the manager. All im sayin is it wasn’t worth payin $10-15 for a bowl that was equal to 2 bites of food after waitin in line that was damn near out the door. I should’ve listen to the girl who told me to leave before I...
