My fiancé moved in here in February 2017 and have been very happy (and actually beyond impressed) with this apartment complex so far.
We have the larger one bedroom, and love how much space this particular apartment gives us – especially the way this apartment was designed. We appreciate the high ceilings, the large & bright windows, the patio, the gorgeous and modern kitchen & bathrooms, and the incredibly spacious living room. If you have an animal, which we do, you have must have a first floor apartment – we understand this rule, but do wish we could have taken an apartment on a higher floor instead. We also notice that the walls mark-up pretty quickly, and the paint comes off easily with water – this is one area where they probably cut costs, and it is noticeable. It would also be nice if the apartments had more closet space, but it does encourage me not to keep a lot of unnecessary junk!
The grounds are very well-kept and maintained! It really is a nice community to walk around and enjoy. They also have security patrolling the grounds at almost all hours of the day – I really appreciate this feature, and it’s also been convenient when we have any issues or questions that need to be addressed right away (they are also available by phone). All of the security guards I have come across have been very helpful and friendly, which helps make it feel more like a community.
The apartments are a 7 minute walk to the Watsessing Train Station, which is about a 25 minute train ride into Hoboken. They’re also a 5 minute drive to downtown Montclair. Very convenient and a seriously great location!
In terms of the management office, it really depends on who is working who will be helpful. There is one particular employee who is pretty rude, but there are others who are very kind, helpful, and flexible. They seem to be very organized and on top of their communications for a new complex, so no complaints there!
The gym is small, but gets the job done if you’re looking for a basic work out. We ended up joining a gym nearby, but its nice to have one on-location when needed. It would be awesome if the complex also had a pool, but I am sure that would increase the cost of living.
I have seen some complaints in terms of parking, but that really can be blamed on the residents, who are parking in the visitors section and taking up spaces for guests instead of paying for the additional space. They know the rules, but refuse to play by them.
Overall, this apartment is as great as you make it! My fiancé and I have really enjoyed living here. It’s a very pleasant and comfortable community. We are hoping our rent won’t increase drastically in the next year, but that...
Read moreVery nice LOOKING place, but many flaws. People smoking downstairs, the smells comes up into my apt especially if they smoke in their guest bathroom. Some security staff are on the job, some play at it. As far as amenities, it was stated right from the start what it will cost to use them so no one should suggest that everyone be charged a little extra for something they don't plan to use. It's a decent place to live but their offices leave so much to be desired. I am now waiting for them to post my Dec. rent that was mailed to them on Nov. 8. On Nov. 14th, I received 2 emails, one from management. One reminding me that I could pay online at their site. The other kind of telling me to do it. I pay though my bank as I do all my bills. I wrote them back and told them that for now, I am satisfied paying as I've aways paid but in the future, I may consider changing. Well, to date, Dec. 5, my check has not been posted against my account. In a previous conversation with them months before because I was sent a late notice yet I sent my rent in and the check cleared my account, and found out they had applied my rent payment to someone else's account, I was advised that's checks received before the 15th, will be posted on the 15th of the month. No problem. I sent an email to them around Nov. 26 or 27 regarding my check not posted against by checking account and they verified they received it, they say on Nov 13th, but I know it was received before that, and that it will be posted. I wrote them again and asked about the 15th posting I was advised of previously and they never replied. I believe they are trying to force me to pay through their online site. This is a business. You don't play games. This is my home. I'm not moving. If their plan is to post my payment late as though I paid late, or to make me pay their way, that's not good business. The rent is not cheap here no matter what others say. A good tenant should be honored, not harassed. I'm just showing you that they have some control issues. If they deposited my check on Fri. Dec 1, it would have posted Mon. Dec 4th, no later than today, the 5th. When I checked my bank account today, it has not yet posted. Update: I've since moved from this place after 3 years, (they up the rent every year) gave them 30 days notice as required, they claimed I didn't, charged me another month rent, took it from my security deposit, I took them to court, get double my rent back. The court ruled in my favor. I gave them my 30 days move out notification in writing, as required but still they lied....
Read more3 years living here. Location location location. It tries hard to be a "luxury" location. The staff on site I think are great, work well and friendly, building cleaners and lawn care teams do good work too. The management they work for however are only money hungry. Everything is expensive. When I first moved in my room alone was 1600/month. It has gone up three times now to 2000/mo. Unlock your door, 25. Move in, hella extra fees, move out yup move out fees. Want to use the quarter sized gym extra 50/month. Power House which is a full gym a block away is 20. I live in 198 against the trees. This is why I say location matters. Not exactly the Grove fault but the neighbor company makes banging noises often, it's currently 1am and they banging. If I'm paying 2000/month just to occupy the space I would expect to not be woken up at midnight to the sounds of factory working.
The facilities are beautiful, the building looks great, apartments I also think are great sizes. Any issues I've had i call and it gets fixed quick usually. Except the time I had no power for a week but that was PSE&G fault.
My neighbors are great, friendly and cool. The people on the first floor however, I always smell weed. Visitor parking is always filled, I've even seen the security guards parking there even though they have their own parking.
Total pluses are laundry in your apartment, some rooms are pet friendly, cool website you can choose to use to sell your useless treasures to your neighbors or just get to know people, good sized apartments, friendly staff, clean, very beautiful campus and buildings, nearby food and grocery stores as well as bus and train stops.
Would I recommend to live here? Depends your room. I think prices should matter to where you're located. Ground floor parking lot side is dealing with traffic noises (people starting their cars, the beeping of locking cars) some buildings your view is the back wall of modells, my side of the building is dealing with loud noises next door at random hours. But other buildings are...
