This doughnut shop is the real deal. These are really great doughnuts. The yeast doughnuts are light with a yeasty chewiness, the cake doughnuts have a fine crumb. They don't seem greasy, so you can eat a lot of them. Try a warm cinnamon sugar cake -- sublime! The glazed twist yeast--perfection! The chocolate iced custard filled -- delectable! The big white bakery box with the donut guy -- classic! Most national donut days they do a nice promotion for the armed services, except the last one when the career doughnut maker had unexpectedly passed, and the shop was in mourning and they were missing their baker. Yes, it's a little like the Seinfeld soup episode where you have to know what you want and how to order. Yes, not the friendliest in customer service, These are just real people making you really great donuts. Consistent product, they look great. Bring cash if possible, be polite, don't waste their time because it's a volume business, and appreciate and patronize an endangered species -- the great American donut shop. We love Crescent donuts. You probably will, too, if you like good donuts. It's not fancy, but it's real; real good. We also like the apple fritter, the old fashioned, the Persian (it's like a fried cinnamon roll), and the tiger tail (chocolate/plain yeast twist). Kids love the sprinkle donuts, and the donut holes are great. It's a special day when we have Crescent donuts. Since they bake at night and into the morning, go early in the morning for the best donuts. This place is a Bloomington classic. Please don't ever stop making donuts! 5 stars, because what would we do if there were no...
Read moreBest donuts in Bloomington, Indiana.
I came across this place totally by accident. I was on 6L going to a friend's place for dinner. Saw this on my way, and stopped to get some doughnuts. That's only because I had seen the place on G-Maps before and thought it would be nice to take a dessert.
I got a dozen donuts, all assorted, 3 cake and rest regular donuts. The dozen included 2 eclairs type pastries. They were delicious. My friend, his friends, I, we all loved the donuts. That's when one of the dudes there told me that this was the best donut place in Bloomington. One dude actually changed his mind about eating one (he had just come from a basketball game) after we told him it was from Crescent.
What I noticed about the donuts was this - They were not too sweet. Most sugary treats in the US tend to be overwhelmingly sweet. Sometimes the sugar is so overpowering that you can't even taste the food. Cresent donuts had just the right amount of sugar. They sold chocolate milk and regular unflavored milk as well which is always nice as they go well with donuts. The donuts were baked perfectly. They were packed nicely. The gentleman at the counter, who also bakes them, was very polite and helpful. The prices were very reasonable. I was able to get a dozen donuts + chocolate milk + ice tea for about $ 22 and change. You can pay by card or cash.
I live across town and took me around 50 mins on the 6L and then a 20 minute walk to get to this place. Will certainly do that again sometime.
Would recommend it strongly. Go...
Read moreVery disappointed today. I frequent this business for work celebrations and today was the first experience that I have ever had there that left me fuming. I walked into the building and was greeted by Jason saying, “yep.” I stated I would like 2 dozen donuts. Jason replied, “yep, all priced differently...” I said ok I want 2 dozen just give me one of what you got. In my mind that meant give me one of everything until you get to 24. After he was finished filling the boxes he stood there with them open staring off with an annoyed look on his face. I asked if he was finished and he said, “well do you want more you have 20.” Apparently he said 27 I heard 20. I said then just the rest with plain. He then proceeded to ask rudely, “how many? “ I said, “however many I have left. “ He said you have 27 that makes more than 2 dozen mam that’s why I said they are all priced differently.” I said oh I’m sorry I asked for 24 so I thought that is what you gave me. He replied, “nope.” Since I could tell Jason does not like his job and apparently did not want to represent the company he worked for professionally I decided not to ask him to put the 3 donuts back. I then asked who his manager was.... after that he changed his tune and wished that I had a great day.
To Missy the manager: Jason was rude and did not represent your company well... kudos to having him work during low customer hours. All of your other staff has...
