Jazz UpFront — Restaurant in Bloomington

Visited Jazz UpFront on a Saturday evening in November 2023 to see my son perform. Got there early to get a table right at the front of the stage. The sound in the room was very good and it's a small enough venue that the bands can just use stage amplification without a PA system and that adds to the intimate feel. I didn't have any food, but my top shelf drinks were great and very reasonably priced and the wait-staff came around several times to check on our table. There did not appear to be a mandatory cover charge, but that could vary depending on the act. I asked the bartender if it was OK to bring kids in under 21 if they are with their parents and the answer was no -- I suppose that is understandable given that this is a jazz club for adults who just want to sit down and have a drink and listen to music. I love this gem of a spot here in Bloomington. We aren't bar or club people, but when we do go out, 9/10 this is where we go. I love the live music and the intimacy of the place. The owner is so kind and the bartenders are always prompt, friendly and attentive. I've never had to wait or clamor for a drink amongst a crowd of patrons and I like it like that. They've got a pretty decent tequila selection and isnt too pricey to enjoy a night out. JazzUpFront is underrated. Stop by on the weekends for delightful jazz. Danielle was a great host and kept the night going.
