I had eaten here many times a long time ago and did not have any issues. I happened to be in the area today for lunch and decided to get my old combo lunch just like I used to for nostalgia. The place was clean and everything in order. It appeared to be the same owner. I had ordered a combo meal of a gyro, fries, and a drink. He asked me if I wanted cheese. Just to make sure he wasn't referring to the gyro sandwich, I asked if that was for the fries, and with a very short response he firmly asked, "Do you want cheese, or no cheese?" It was somewhat demeaning and rude, but I rolled with it since he may have been in a rush and, cheese for dipping fries was OK with me. I waited patiently as other orders were taken care of and it was reasonable, I was not in a hurry. When my order was ready at the pickup window, I asked what the drink selection was (they prepare it for you behind the counter) and the same gentleman said I didn't order a drink. I mentioned that I had ordered a combo and the menu noted that a drink was a part of that (it in fact did) but he told me I didn't order that. The odd part is that the amount I paid was the amount that seemed right for what I ordered. He said the drink was extra and he motioned for me to go over to the other counter where I placed my original order. Being I am not going to eat a lunch without a drink, I definitely wanted one. I looked over the prices on the menu real quick to make sure I didn't miss anything regarding a combo and what I paid was close to what it was supposed to be, however, he said it was some kind of difference (that was less than 50 cents, I didn't quite understand him). It was odd that for that small of a difference, why in the name of good customer service he either did not waive that and maybe it be clearer the next time or a more meaningful exchange during the order process be done to ensure an accurate order was filled. I gave him the additional small amount needed to make up the difference, but then I felt more uncomfortable. As this situation wasn’t improving, I resented being led this far and being treated almost like I was trying to pull a fast one on them or inconveniencing them somehow. His responses to me had been nothing but short and rude since I arrived. I then told him that I decided to not eat there and would like all of my money back. He then quickly snatched the bag away from the counter (as if I as going to run away with it) and returned my money. He did not hesitate and did thank me with a smile. I thanked him back and left. I am disappointed and cannot figure out why I would even remotely be treated like I was. I will never come back and I do not recommend...
Read moreLived in Bloomington my whole life. Been passing this restaurant for 20 plus years. So my wife and I decided it was time to try it. We pulled up to the window to order, due to the Corona Virus. I got the rib tips. Which tasted like they were cooked days and days ago. I'm pretty sure I saw them microwave them. They were fatty and half inedible grizzle and bone. I got a big portion of fries. Which were hot and not bad. The garlic bread was bland. So nothing really special about my rib tip dinner. My wife got the chicken gyro plate with some issues as well. The meat tasted old and was rubbery. The portion size was good though along with the pita bread. We also ordered cheese sticks. They were overcooked and most of the cheese had fallen out during cooking. The marinara sauce was bland. We spent 32 dollars with tip. Will definitely not be returning to King Gyros again.
I've noticed that the only feedback you get from the owner is when it's a positive review. Maybe try to give feedback to your negative reviews as well. So you can try and improve your food and service.
Still no response. Surprised you're still...
Read moreKing Gyro is about as authentic as it gets in Bloomington, for Greek food. I've been eating here for about 10 years now, and their quality has never waned. It's the best gyro sandwich I've ever had (I love adding feta to mine 👌), their menu is surprisingly deep, and everyone who makes the food and takes the orders have been there the entirety of the time I've been going there. They're as authentic as the food itself.
They may not be the most sociable people around, but that's because they're only ever focused on making the food right, and NEVER getting your order wrong.
They are a perfect example of what the food industry should look like.. no b.s., no slacking, no skimping on quality, and no theatrics... just downright good food, very fair prices (example: two big gyro sandwiches with feta added on for $12 after tax), and artisans of their craft.
Can't recommend King...
