The Love Shack — Restaurant in Bloomington

I have heard great things about The Love Shack and decided to stop in to try it out. The woman at the counter was very pleasant and greeted me as I walked in and took my order. I tried the Apple Butter Pork Chop Sando with Truffle fries and a Mexican Coke. The sandwich was really good due to the vanilla wafer breading and the apple butter but I kind of wish I added some lettuce and tomato on it. The shoe string Truffle Fries I thought were just okay. I should have had the Orzo Pasta Salad or the Street Corn Salad instead of fries with my sandwich. Although I liked my food it was just too much fried food. I swear I could feel my arteries harden as I ate my meal. The service was great and I received my food lightning fast. With tip my meal was close to $30 and that's quite a bit for a pork chop sandwich with fries and a coke especially for one person. In my opinion this did not taste like a $30 meal. I know that The Love Shack has ties with the Pop-Up Chicken Shop which I thoroughly enjoy so I was hoping it would taste just as good. I'm not giving up on The Love Shack though. I think the next time I go back there I'll try...

The price is not reflected in the quality of the food. To add bacon is $5. My first time having Benton's Bacon...not sure if that is a brand or a farm near by. It has a strong smoky flavor that leaves an aftertaste. I ordered the double with cheese and bacon and fries with a coke...$23....ok, but not worth the price. My food was a little on the salty side as well. I get the concept they're trying to convey, but there are other options in town for a good burger that won't break the bank. On the bright side, we went at lunch and they were turning the food around...

This new burger place from the pop-up crew has some pretty unique flavors and creations while keeping everything pretty simple, burgers and fries. They also keep things interesting with new specials to try, which is fun. The reason for three stars is the price to value just isn't there. $20 for lunch, and while the burger is good, the fries are just normal fries and the drinks are just bottled drinks. It's just too expensive for what you get. I will probably choose other burgers in town unless they drop the prices by quite a bit...
