UPDATE 11/14/24 We just had amazing food and great service from John. He was enthusiastic and very happy to serve. Thank you for an amazing experience! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hacienda Leon Mexican Restaurant in Bloomington and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere. Our waiter, Harold, provided us with some of the best service I have received at a restaurant. Now, let's talk about the food. The flaming fajitas at Hacienda Leon are hands down the best in town. The sizzling platter arrived at our table, filled with perfectly seasoned and tender chicken, steak and shrimp. They also come with mushrooms, bacon, onion and peppers with melted cheese on top. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the portion size was generous. I had to take half of it home. My wife had the beef chimichanga and she said it was really good too. Overall, Hacienda Leon exceeded my expectations. The combination of outstanding service from Harold and the mouthwatering fajitas made for an unforgettable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of great tasting Mexican cuisine and top-notch service.

Went for Father's Day and enjoyed nearly every part of this. I wanted pineapple fajitas, and i was not disappointed. Not only was the presentation spot on, but they tastted so good. I could have done with some more char and spice, but they were def a sure contender for all to enjoy. Make sure to ask for the secret hot salsa. They don't bring it out unless you ask (tip, most Mexican food restaurants have a spicier salsa they will bring upon request but don't advertise). The service was very accommodating. The atmosphere was a little too dark for me, but it's not a deal breaker. I'm there to eat. The server was consistent on our refills, which is important to me. Food came out in a timely manner and was temperature hot. The only reason i gave four stars was the dessert. The deserts missed the mark big time. They tasted good and sweet, but i was really hoping there was a temperature contrast. We got two churros and two of some dessert I'd never heard of. They tasted good, but i expected the churros to be hot, but they were room temp at best. Same for the other dessert. They were in a sort of won ton wrap but were room temp. I won't order ever again. But also, not a deal breaker. The fajitas are worth it to return alone. Excellent Father's Day location!!!

Just a few nights ago I went to the Bloomington Hacienda Leon. I went in on my own and the hostess sat me at the bar. I ordered the carnitas dinner which was a humongous plate filled with carnitas, rice, beans, and a bed of lettuce and tomatoes topped with guacamole. I tried all 3 of their salsas which were the house salsa (not enough heat), habanero salsa (with heat but not enough flavor), and the ranchera salsa (robust with flavor and right amount of heat). The service was great and the food was delicious. I had a pleasant conversation with the bartender and a customer who sat near me. It made the evening very special. The only thing that was off is that it's a Mexican restaurant that is pleasantly decorated with Mexican decor but the music that was playing in the background was country music. Don't get me wrong, I do like some country music but it took me out of the full experience that is Hacienda Leon.

TLDR: Fast service, hefty plates, and great price Service: fast, so if you're there for an "in and out" experience but for good food, this is your go-to i.e. work lunches. If you want a more personal experience, it may be luck of the draw or not in scope for this setting. Food: I consider myself an ambitious eater, but this was more than enough food even for me. My order was the "Especial Dinner" a little bit of everything, as the description says, and I took home plenty for next day's lunch. Price: two dinner specials, two cocktail drinks, and dessert: ~$50. Reasonable to me but price is there for you to gauge. Drinks: not sure if over poured or cheaper liquor but the electric lemonades were potent. Not to my liking but to each their own.

Food was good, & the atmosphere was good . It was busy when we went, I was very happy with how quickly the food came out and the quality of the food plus they had a hot sauce my husband loves. I was also very happy to hear that both the beans and rice are vegetarian (my family doesn't eat pork). All that being said, I wasn't impressed by the waitress. She seemed preoccupied and distant. My husband asked for a water with no ice and got ice, (not a huge deal) but then the waitress basically ran away so we could not ask for a new water we also needed another set of silverware. Overall it didn't affect the meal significantly ahead we enjoyed ourselves.

This was my first time, so this will updated later after another visit. For lunch, my friend and I sat in the bar area. I ordered shrimp tacos, which were good, but I did not like the sauce that came with it. Therefore, I did not use it. The margarita was good and so was my beer. Ther This place looks really nice, inside and out. Also, the staff was nice. My only problem was that our waiter was not very attentive. We had to get his attention when we wanted something, not him asking us. Also, I was wanting to get dessert, but he never asked if we wanted something else and gave us our checks before I had a chance to ask.
