When you think of "Roast Beff" it's likely that you are thinking of those old commercials where that lady was like "Where is the beef?" of which this, Wally's, is decidedly not.
Wally's struck me as odd, initially. Located on the first floor of some wack office building, Wally's offers RB's (roast beefs) at an arguably inexpensive price. AND- get this- they have onion rings AND cheese fries shiver me timbers. Oh lordy! I am excited about it. I went to Wally's once and I haven't been ever again since that happened, but I totally would go back.
The decor is decidedly ho-hum, with a bit of post-war panache sprinkled in lightly all over the restaurant. Lots of blues, greys, cool vanilla colour schemes. "Quick bite"
If I were to sum it up in a quick paragraph that would hopefully be used for a featured review snippet on the main google maps page when you search Wally's or whatever I would say:
Wally's Roast Beef is inexpensive, has good service, a friendly atmosphere, delicious food, a friendly atmosphere and people, quality price, and some sort of bar seating where there's these stools but they're like permanently connected/bolted to the ground so you can't move them which is wack but also you don't fall in them as much which is good so I guess maybe it's good that the stools are bolted...
Read moreWhat an odd little gem! I discovered this place by accident, and was pleasantly surprised. I have to say, the onion rings were the highlight. No idea if they're fresh or frozen but whatever they were they were delicious. Perfect batter-to-onion ratio, and crispy as all get out. I had the roast beef with swiss cheese, and got their creamy horseradish on the side, which was also impressively spicy. So often creamy horseradish is really weak and bland, this stuff had some real kick to it. I will admit, the bun the sandwich was served on seemed like a strange choice compared to the quality of everything else (like cheap store bought hamburger bun), but it certainly wasn't bad. Potato salad was classic deli potato salad, well executed. Service was friendly and fast. The atmosphere was the strangest part of the experience. An odd blend of 60's diner meets New York delicatessen tucked away in a nondescript office building. Although there is signage and a patio out front, you'd never know it was there unless you were looking for it. While it was technically clean, the whole restaurant looked like it hadn't been updated in any real way since the 60's... That aside, the food was good and priced decently. Definitely recommend this place for a quick and...
Read moreWhen I could taste the roast beef it was soooo good, but the roast beef to bun portion ratio made it mostly taste like bun, which was a tragedy as Arbys has more roast beef flavor that comes through.
We got a to go order for 4 roast beefs and 2 fries, and got home to find only 2 roast beefs, that was almost heart breaking to see. Though they did offer to have us drive back / free sandwiches / credit the card back so they handled it promptly.
The restaurant was clean, nice open parking lot, had a little wait for fries but completely understandable for how busy they were.
Staff was also very nice, good sense of humor and personable, big props to them.
However the meat portions that I got on my one sandwich, I would go elsewhere for a good sandwich, which pains me to say as I've heard this...
