Stopped in for a quick Saturday afternoon lunch. As you walk in, you’ll find a chalkboard with menus for you to look over. When you’re ready, you’ll find place your order at the counter, where they give you a number to take to your table. The young woman taking orders was very knowledgeable of the menu, and was able to answer several questions from our group of 4. Drinks as self-serve, with a selection of Pepsi products, tea, water, and coffee. After placing our orders, we found a booth in the back, and in less than 10 minutes, our four entrees were delivered hot and fresh to the table. One thing we noticed, as three of us had ordered dishes with chicken as the main protein, was just how tender and juicy the chicken was, even the tenders. The bowls we ordered (sweet potato fried rice with grilled chicken and crunchy sesame slaw with hot ginger chicken) were amazing balancing acts of flavor and texture. The BLT was simple but fresh, the perfect summer treat! Overall, a casual and laid-back atmosphere with excellent and imaginative dishes. If anything, you’ll have trouble deciding which direction to go!

My Goodness. Stopped in HCK on a snowy afternoon and immediately saw local friends enjoying lunch at the counter where you place your order. Advice to those visiting the High Country….follow the locals! It’s Fish Friday and I was excited that the yummy seafood offerings available for to-go orders after 4:30 were also available for lunch! I had the perfectly fried flounder. Lightly breaded and crispy without any grease aftertaste. Two generous portions were accompanied by crispy hot crinkled fries and a colorful creamy slaw with just a smidge of sweetness. The hush puppies alone were reason to sing hallelujah to the southern God of goodness! They were slightly crispy.. but like the fish.. no sign of grease. And the cornmeal, with just a hint of sugar made these puppies the best since Savannah. I have had many lunches at this sister restaurant to one of my all-time favorite restaurants, Over Yonder Kitchen, all wonderful, but this one was as fabulous as a snowy afternoon with friends.

Holloway Corner Kitchen is a solid spot for a hearty breakfast. From the moment I walked in, it had a great vibe—friendly service and a laid-back atmosphere. I tried the State Champs '78, and it had a lot going on—eggs, bacon, American cheese, crispy fried chicken, grilled onions and peppers, and hashbrown bits. It’s definitely flavorful, especially with a fountain Dr. Pepper to wash it down. The no-fuss setup, where you order at the counter and bus your own table, fits the place perfectly. If you’re in the area and looking for something hearty, it’s worth a try.

Realistically I would give it a 4.5, but I rounded up ;) great spot that I've been many times. They don't have kids meals which is a bummer because I have to order my daughter (3) a full meal for $10. I haven't tried everything obviously, but I'm pretty split on the things I've ordered whether they were great meals or just ok. Prices are pretty reasonable for the portions. I need to try a slushy because they sound great but I've not wanted to spend the extra $ to have one with lunch. LOVE the location. Food is always quick, even if the parking lot looks crazy full. Service is 8/10, not super friendly, but better than most places.

Things I've gotten: slaw salad with chicken added (mediocre), chicken tenders basket MANY TIMES (great), po boy (meh), quesa birria (pretty good), boudin balls (good and filling), quesadilla (good). Also, draft root beer is...
