Rokaru Ramen — Restaurant in Blue Ash

In hopes of the ownership seeing this: Rokaru has been a go-to for me for a while, but my most recent visit was one of the worst I've had at a restaurant in general in the past couple years. I brought 4 friends who have never been. We waited an hour to be seated (not unusual during the dinner rush, no problem). Once sat, we weren't given menus and didn't see the server for another 25 minutes. We found the menus online and ordered without fuss, knowing it was busy. Food came out relatively fast, and every single order was wrong. One member of our group ordered vegetarian options for both appetizer and main dish, and was given pork/chicken. When confronted, our server advised us that it is our responsibility to notify them of dietary restrictions before ordering, and that it's printed clearly on the menus (that she never brought us). When questioned about individual bills being wrong, we were told "well the bamboo (and almost every other add-on that was wrong) was in one of the orders I brought out." There were no apologies given other than "This has never happened before," which is not an apology. Each of us have worked in the service industry and understand how difficult a dinner rush can be, but this was just terrible. My vegetarian friend experienced a mild stomach issue because of this and won't give Rokaru a second chance now solely because of how poorly this was handled. I don't blame her....

Stopped by Rokaru Ramen for lunch today and it was my first time there. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen and thought it was absolutely delicious. I thought the portion size was just a tad smaller than other ramen restuarants I have been to in the Cincinnati area, but flavor wise, Rokaru is probably my new favorite. Service was great too! I sat down and ordered within a couple of minutes and my food was out in less than 5 minutes. I've heard about the kitty robot that brings your food out to you. I saw it parked in the corner of the restaurant...it was not being utilized this afternoon but I think it's a cute idea to make one's experience more fun. The only waitress working was friendly and efficient. I probably only spent 20-25 minutes in the restaurant total so it's great for those that need a quick lunch. They have a few different types of ramen or you can create your own. There are also rice dishes and several different types of appetizers. This place is such a cute little ramen shop (･◡･)/ From the art murals to the robot cat server, there are such neat little things about this place that intrigued me from the moment I stepped in!

To start, the food here is fantastic. I would say I'm a pretty harsh critic when it comes to my ramen bowls, but this place really blew me away. The complex flavors of the broth matched with all the toppings blended beautifully. It wasn't too heavy or salty, just flavorful.

Also, the staff here are super kind and attentive. I actually was very flustered the first time the robot cat came around with our food and missed the opportunity to take a photo. Our server was nice enough to call it back to our table so I could take a video!

Overall, this is probably one of my favorite ramen shops I've visited in a long time. Best one to...
