Great Take-Out food. No Dine-In allowed.
Ordered Aloo Gobi, Butter Chicken, Vegie Samosas, plain Naan, and a Mango Lassi. I asked for medium heat/spiciness. Google says Dine-In is offered, which is why I chose this restaurant. There is a sign on the door that says No Dine-In, Take-Out only.
I ordered in person and was allowed to wait at an indoor waiting area for my order to be prepared. My purchase was made via Square, which automatically sends a receipt of my purchase to my email. (I read a review that said the reviewer didn't get a receipt.) Before signing to complete the purchase I was given the option to tip. This is typical for purchases made thru Square. (I read a review that said the reviewer's card was charged a tip that the reviewer didn't authorize.)
The food was packaged up and placed in a large paper bag. When I got home I noticed all of the food was in a container that was wrapped in cling wrap. Which I thought was a very smart, professional, and courteous. The rice came in a Styrofoam clay shell that was completely full of rice. Which gave me the impression I was getting my monies worth.
The Aloo Gobi tasted wonderful and had just the right amount of spiciness. The Butter Chicken did not have much chicken, but it had lots of sauce with great flavor. The Vegie Samosas were ok, not as good as the other items ordered.
I will go...
Read moreThis place is the real deal. Had the lamb vindaloo (hot), veggie samosas and pashwari naan (not on the menu), my wife had the chicken korma. I have been to the UK, where curry’s popularity is akin to our Mexican food in the USA.
The Indian Mix Grill is in point and holds its own with some of the best curry houses in the UK. The decor and atmosphere are the biggest down fall. Despite this, the food and service is excellent.
The chicken korma was very balanced sweet, spicy and nutty, the lamb vindaloo had a building spiciness which was aromatic and slightly acidic. The lamb was cooked to perfection
The samosas were not my favorite. The crust was a bit thick and not crispy like i am used to, the filling was great though.
Another highlight is that they serve Kingfisher beer, which is the go-to beer when having a spicy curry.
I wish more people were there to get a better feel for the atmosphere. The price isn’t cheap but for a mom and pop restaurant with quality like this, it should be more.
Regardless, I will be going...
Read moreIt was great! We've not had a lot of experience or exposure to Indian food in the past, but that will not be true going forward! My wife and I and our two year old all shared three different dishes and an order of naan bread. The shrimp in the saag were the size of golf balls. The fish curry has now set the standard for what I'm looking for the next time the chance comes up. The two year old tried more than a several bites of everything, and ate until she napped. Be warned of only one thing; we try different places and have Floorboard Picnic. Set up camp in the back of the SUV or van, makes a weatherproof dining room. The dishes were all in plastic tubs, but the rice was in one large foam box for all three. We had brought silverware from the house in anticipation, but not a proper cutting knife (BIG shrimp) and no extra plates. So, eat a bite, mix in some rice, eat another bite. The two year old painted the back, and there's rice everywhere now, and we'll do it again!...
