only giving waffle house one star because our waitress tried to make our visit more pleasant only to have the night manager on duty ruin our visit and any chance we would have went back in the future. we went about 2:30-3:00 am making it early Sunday morning, knowing the 3 o'clock bar crowd would likely be there. there were people there but it wasn't busy (waitress mentioned it had been dead all night). we had been there about 5 minutes and was getting ready to order when the overhead music started screaming some hard rock music you couldn't understand bc it was so incredibly loud. the waitress walked up to take our order at that time and literally couldn't hear a word i was saying to her. hell, i couldn't even hear myself. instead of trying to yell over the music we asked her if it could be turned back down a bit. after she yelled loud enough to get her manager/co-workers attention, she asked them to turn the music down. the night manager look at the girl next to her, looks back at our waitress and said no, we can't turn it down and went on about what they were doing. she asked them again to turn it down and the manager said something to her that we couldn't hear over the music and our waitress then turned to us and said I'm sorry, we can't turn it down, it's controlled by a box in the office. I said to her, you mean the box in the office they just used to turn the music up with..? it was obvious she felt she was in an awkward situation with her boss refusing to turn the music down so she could hear us. we told her if she couldn't hear us order then there was no point in ordering. we thanked her for trying and told her we would go elsewhere to eat as we got up and left. if I was a waitress and my wages relied greatly on tips and on a slow night my manager ran off the people that did show up to eat, I'd be pretty ticked. as a customer service manager myself, I must say that night managers behavior and attitude towards the guests was completely ridiculous. I don't know how many other people have had this issue there, but we will not be returning to this waffle house again. thankfully, ihop is right...
Read moreMy mom is in her declining years, and my son and I have been doing nothing but tending to her. So we needed a break and decided to take my granddaughter to the rebuilt Waffle House in my hometown. It was three o'clock in the afternoon on Easter. Who knew they'd be open? We were excited.
We got there, and there were only maybe four cars in the parking lot. We walk in and have good interactions with customers leaving. There was a male cook and a female server. Nobody said boo to us. They had half the place roped off, leaving maybe four tables, only one of which could seat three people. The other three tables were occupied.
I had to ask the server if we could sit at the four-seater after it was cleaned off. She seemed confused about having to tend to three tables, but said okay, she'd go clean the other one.
There was a guy cooking, so it's not like she can't keep people's coffee going. I know how this works. I waited tables at busier places as a teenager. I felt like we were in the Twilight Zone.
We stand there and try to wait happily for her to remember to go clean the four-seater. No pressure here. And then the cook turns around and tells us we can't sit there. The server just looks at him, puzzled. I ask where we're supposed to sit. He said, "right here," and points to three stools at the bar.
So we waited 15 minutes to have someone clean off the only table that would seat three people (with the exception of all the roped-off tables), and were basically told we couldn't sit there.
I can't think of a single reason why a nationally-known business would employ such poor representatives of their brand. The girl was just simply doing what the cook said, so I guess I can't blame her for her ineptitude, but the guy? Um, if you don't want to work, maybe let somebody else have that job.

Read moreWhen I first got to this Waffle House I have to admit that I was a tad put off!!! It seemed a bit sketchy!!! Totally deserted!!! But after my hubby called to confirm they were open, we went in!!! We were greeted immediately and was told that we could sit anywhere we wanted!!! We sat and looked at the menu and ordered our drinks!!! Then we ordered our food!!! Their menu is very limited at the current moment but the breakfast sandwich I ordered was great!!! If I was just basing my score on the sandwich, it would be 5 stars!!! BUT...the coffee was old, stale, and burnt!!! The orange juice was bitter and had that tangy taste of it being old!!! The sides were VERY limited!!! My youngest son doesn't eat potatoes, like AT ALL!!! The choices were hashbrowns, grits and tomato slices!!! He chose not to have a side!!! He also ordered the breakfast sandwich which he loved!!! He had the bacon and I had the city ham (ham was amazing by the way)!!! After he finished that he was still hungry so he ordered a chocolate chip waffle!!! She didn't charge us for it though!!! So we just added that extra $5.50 to her tip!!! When we left, there were several other people eating inside!!! But we somehow always bring the crowd with us everywhere we go!!! Lol!!! All in all, great food, great service, but the atmosphere needs...
