Let me just start by saying we love the IL Mulino New York brand and when we lived in NYC, we would frequent the location on 60th St almost every Saturday. So when I was in Florida for work and found out they had a location in Boca Raton, I was very excited. I went for dinner the night I arrived in FL and sat at the bar. I had a wonderful time; the bartender and staff were so friendly and amazing. The food was not as good as the NYC 60th St location, but it was darn close and so yummy. I had such a great time, that I went back for dinner one more time before I flew home. The 2nd experience was definitely not the same; it was actually horrible and I will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. The manager clearly moved around the restaurant speaking with the guests, but was very obvious who his friends were at the restaurant. With one of his friends acting like she owned the restaurant and bossing the staff around. The manager proceeded to yell at the staff in front of customers; pounded his fist on a a serving side table and was not pleasant at all. Also, letting his friend control the music in the restaurant and letting it be extremely loud. One waiter yelled at another staff member in front of customers; with the manager not stepping in and stopping it. I sat at the bar again this time, due to the dining room being full the 2nd night. The bartender and wait staff made the whole evening go smoothly, even with what they were dealing with on the side. It is sad, but I will not be returning to this...
Read moreBoca Raton has been slowly growing as the place to eat in the Palm Beach area. And I don't doubt that for a minute. I have been dining in some of Boca's best restaurants for years. Many new restaurants have been sprouting like mushrooms in the Boca area. And for those of you searching for a culinary experience like no other, look no further than Il Mulino. Nestled on Palmetto Park Rd. amid other fine restaurants and beautiful mid rise buildings the restaurant is located where the old Union 27 was and before that a restaurant called Lilly's. The restaurant buzzed with excited energy and was comfortably full with satisfied patrons. We started with hors d"oeuvre that were fantastic and the food really shined. We then shared the Caprese Salad and asked for Glazed Balsamic Vinegar which the waiter brought to the table right away and made the dish very special. We then shared the Chicken Schiaparelli. The serving was a bit pricey. but well worth it. I asked for a dish called Veal Tonnato which I had ordered recently in Milano, Italy. The chef came out from the kitchen and apologized but said to please call before coming in again and he would have the dish for me. Very nice. We ordered one deseret for the table which was divine. Though I would love to be selfish and keep Il Mulino to myself, it is too good to stay...
Read moreUnfortunately Fathers Day Dinner at Il Mulino was a complete disaster. Our Table was inside and it was not a pleasant atmosphere as a party of around 12 - 14 that was also seated inside had no less than 6 children of a very young age were consistently loud and in some cases screaming to the point that my party of four could barely hear ourselves in conversation. We ask the manager to see if she could address this issue but her reply was it is Fathers Day. Most upscale restaurants usually have provisions for this gone of issue but Il Mulino did not. To make matters worst others that were in the restaurant also were annoyed to the point that they also complained. The service was not adequate at all and slow to remove dirty dishes from our table. We ask for extra Zucchini Chips that did not come until 15 minutes after our request. After his initial appearance with Bread we did not see him again.
In conclusion, myself and family dined in all Three Il Mulino restaurants in New York and have been completely satisfied with our dining in the past. The very fact that this establishment on this day DID NOT take into consideration our needs and comfort for our dining experience leaves very little choice to never returned to this...
