Josephine's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Boca Raton

Zero stars. Worst dining experience with terrible service. Would NOT recommend.

After arriving on time for a reservation for 8, we were seated immediately. Seemed to be a busy night (it was a Sunday night on a holiday weekend) We saw a busboy for waters and bread after 15 minutes but didn't see a waiter (or a wine menu) for 45 minutes. When the waiter finally arrived, he immediately started complaining that he had too many tables and that they had no busboys.

Ordering the "3 course meal" was clearly a mistake. The one Eggplant Rollatini tasted good but the portion size left much to be desired. The Honey Pork Chop arrived dried out and was only salvaged by the sauce it came with. The vegetables and mashed potatoes were fine. Again, the portion size left much to be desired. The dessert (chocolate mousse) arrived on a chilled plate, which was a nice surprise. The portion was small enough to fit on the fork it was served with.

The waiter guessed at everyone's order when serving the food (for dinner and dessert) and was successful 50% of the time. When the bottle of wine arrived it had gone bad (very rare for my experience dining out). The waiter commented that it would be fine and that someone else would be served the bad bottle. I've never heard that before and it's clearly not the first time this server has said that. We were provided a good bottle the second time around, which was a little reassuring but his comment still didn't sit well.

The manager (sitting with three others), didn't bother talking to us as we left. We approached her detailing our night and she didn't respond, clearly not caring that we had such a terrible experience.

I hope that this experience is an uncommon one for any potential diners reading this review, but I won't know because I never plan...

Both the absolute worst dining experience I’ve ever had and the best waiter service I’ve ever had. We were “lucky” enough to be “greeted” by Josephine herself who scowled at us to begin with and reluctantly sat us down for our reservation. I explained to her that we were having clients join us for a happy hour and we may have less people than originally scheduled and she could place us where convenient. Our guests unfortunately had to leave early and as I expected to expense this dinner, I was just going to have our waiter ring us up for extra food to accommodate the confusion. But instead, Miss Josephine stomped up, scolded us for an event that wasn’t our direct fault, and yelled at us to “never do this again to anyone else.”

By the way, the restaurant was absolutely empty (literally no other tables) and we were the only business there nearly the entire night. I nearly walked out then and there, frankly I should have, but our waiter was beyond accommodating and so respectful and understanding. I would have left for Josephine but I stayed for him because he went above and beyond.

Treating your customers like this, as an owner, is absolutely unacceptable and her behavior was almost embarrassing as her fake Gucci belt.

If you are looking to book this restaurant, read the negative reviews as they are all spot on. I never want to see any small business fail, but this was a location we were looking forward to taking our clients to again and again but instead will never return. Miss Josephine also canceled my reservation while I was at the table so I wouldn’t receive Open Table points. Literally lol. I’m looking forward to seeing this business close soon but hope the amazing waiter lands somewhere great because he...

Very disappointing - I arrived with a 7:15p reservation - I got there early, it took much less time to drive than I expected. It was about 6:45p the hostess (who I found out later was the owner)..could not have been LESS friendly. The look on her face was not welcoming. When I sadi I had a 7:15 reservation for 4...she said "4 people?"...I really wanted to say ..NO 1 duck 1 giraffe a chken and me !! ..but I did not. We were waiting for the other 2 people to arrive - I was shown to or table..and basically that was it...there was a runner who did get us water...it took the server about 10 mins to even look at us..We were there to celebrate someone's birthday (she had picked the restaurant - I had never been before)..I will be breif for the rest..the service was not great, in fact pretty bad...the whole pace was slow slow slow..thankfully the singer started and she was the saving grace of the night...The food...well the food was just awful.. I had eggplant parmesan...... the plate looked like a diner plate,,the sauce looked and tasted like it was straight out of a can...just BLAH...My Fiance had the Rigatoni bolognaise .. when we were done..they had 1/2 left I asked if they were gonna take it home..."NO..we have so much food at home"....in car they told me "it was the wrost Italian food we ever had"...our friends had the carbonarra and Brazino...I did not taste either and was told the were "alright"....teh carbonarra looked watery and the birthday girl had bones in her fish (this can happen)...the atmosphere in here is nice....the woner appears not to be so nice ..and at $50 a head..there are certainly better places in Boca to go....may explain why I was abke to make...
