I was looking for a place to get specialty roasted beans for espresso, seems like they have better options for pour overs or other options, only offer light roasts for espresso. I bought a bag of their house blend which is roasted by Brandywine, $25 for a lb, which is basically what it cost to buy from Brandwine directly. Bags of beans come with a free shot which was unfortunately undrinkable due to how sour, not acidic but like actual puckering sour. I was able to pull a decent shot at home after a few attempts; Had to grind to where it was choking out my machine then go slightly coarser from there, 15 seconds of blooming and 18g:50g in about 50 seconds including blooming at 9bar balanced out the acidity and you could start tasting some of the chocolate notes. (Eureka Mignon Facile & Gaggia Classic Pro). Probably have an easier time with better equipment but shows that the coffee is good and the shot I got in the shop was probably under extracted or that my palate is unsophisticated and dislike light roasts... They had a small variety of specialty coffee but seemed limited in that they all have similar profiles i.e. light roast, berries, floral, citrus, some single origin options from Ethiopia, some options from Heart so if that is what you like then check the place out but just not for me. Service was friendly and the place was clean. Drinks seemed a little pricy but probably on par for the area. They had plenty of seating with outlets too and there were people working so seemed...
Read moreWas visiting Boca and searching for the best coffee, and Google led me to Mane Coffee.
I'm used to doing my own pour overs at home, using excellent beans and a great grinder. I only drink it poured over ice, so I found it not all coffee works well, and I tend to brew it a bit stronger.
I found the place quite easily and plenty of parking. No sign is visible from the lot and you have to go into a small courtyard but people sitting outside with their coffee will tip you off where to go.
Hannah the barista was super helpful, steering me towards a light roast that would work well for my pour over. I got Heart Ethiopia Beriti coffee.
I loved the fact that it came in a carafe with three full cups of brewed coffee and a cup of ice for me to do my own pour overs. I asked for an extra cup of ice which they quickly brought as well.
Got a blueberry lemon scone to go with it which they heat it up, fresh and delicious. The vibe inside was modern, spacious and relaxed, not at all pretentious.
It's not the cheapest cup of coffee but if you want quality from people who really care and an awesome environment this is a must...
Read moreI was visiting from out of town and this was one of the coffee shops that was suggested as a MUST to visit. I have to say, I was not disappointed.
I have often had the experience where I will arrive at a coffee shop in an hour before close and receive less than stellar treatment. Dan, who I didn’t realize was the owner until I looked them up on Instagram, made it feel like a VIP experience. He asked if it was our first time and when he found out that it was, he ran us through the process. He explained everything they had on espresso that day, all of their pour over options, and even took time before we left to talk about their retail bags.
It was a better experience than I would’ve anticipated. The shop is very modern looking and I enjoyed the ambience. He even brought over a shot of espresso they were dialing in for me to try out. As a coffee nerd, this cements it as a place that I need to frequently visit.
If you’re a coffee nerd, have the patience to wait for a really good cup, this is definitely the...
