I visit my sister & brother in law each year on holiday in Boca and the very 1st time visiting they suggested this place. We loved the food, I cannot say a bad word about the food and choice selection on the menu...However, the service is erratic, if your lucky you get a lovely polite person serving called Carrisse (slim, from sarasota, dark blonde hair) she is excellent, should be managing the place instead of the actual owner who is a short chubby woman with dark hair... there is another girl serving, short hair, really abrubt spotty faced and rude, has no idea about customer service! What was ironic, the owner was sat beside me on another table conducting interviews for open vacancies! - The owner was rude when I arrived in the shop, she bellowed..'your supposed to wait to be seated didnt you read the sign on the front door!' To which I replied.. 'no, because i used your entrance from the rear where I parked my car'.. clearly she should put a sign on the rear door if that is so important and it was not as if the place was full, only three tables taken (couples). After she had seen my reaction and heard my comments both her and the rude waitress tried to adjust there behaviour to be slightly more politer however the damage was already done...clearly they were shocked to see two black faces and behaved like rednecks! I have only given a 4 star rating out of 5 as the food is good but if it was based on the service only and the owner who is a horrible chubby woman, then I would have rated MINUS 5! - WIll seriously think twice about ever going back here and now my brother and sister in law say they will also think twice and previously it was a favkurite place for them..they were shocked to hear our feedback. As I said, the waitress from Sarasota is absoutely lovely, fantastic at her job, a shame she has to endure working with the owner and the other rude...
Read moreThis colorful sidewalk cafe awaits beach goers and Sunday walkers with exorbitant prices, small portions, and mediocre food.
My wife and I had spent a morning at the beach and were hoping for a quick, tasty lunch. Walking by we were tempted by the fun decor, outside seating, and mission of the restaurant to serve local ingredients made fresh to order.
Coming from New York, we weren't unused to the $17-$20 average prices for omelettes and sandwiches, but were surprised to see those numbers for such an unassuming restaurant. However, seeing the happy people seated all around, and remembering the quality of the ingredients we said, what the heck--let's try it!
I got the Crab, Avocado, & Goat Cheese omelette with the included grits ($18.50) and my wife got the Grilled Fish Sandwich with blackened Corvina and homemade slaw ($15.50).
Where to begin. The three egg omelette was small, overcooked, and contained perhaps a quarter of an avocado, a clump or two of crab, and a sprinkling of cheese. The side of grits were lumpy, under cooked, 100% from a box of Quaker's, and most offensively served in a condiment dish! You charge me $18.50 and you can't even have the decency of giving me a proper portion of your cheapest ingredient???
My wife's sandwich was a train wreck of severely over-salted fish filet pillowed by an over-sized potato bun that wasn't toasted but definitely covered in some red sauce that wasn't on the plate.
The highlight of her meal was a nicely sliced tomato and a "heaping" portion of strongly dill-flavored coleslaw appropriately served in a condiment dish.
To top things off our waitress after giving us water and taking our orders, essentially disappeared, returning once to refill our waters.
Perhaps we came on a bad day. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing. Regardless, no meal should...
Read moreUpdate: We went back for another breakfast before we go back to NY . I ordered for extra slice for my favorite banana bread French toast and had my fix. Family ordered country fried steak and Western scramble. My son gobbled up the country fried steak and he said it was so delicious. He will try it next time with cheddar grits. That's all for now folks. As usual great experience and my star went up from 4 to 5 because they were generous with my extra slice of banana bread French toast.
Initial review: Found Boca Beach House in Google and decided to try this place. A very pleasant breakfast for us on a Saturday morning (before 10am), luckily got a seat outside with pleasant music playing on the background. We didn't go through chaos to get a table which we always experience with other popular breakfast restaurants.
We ordered the banana bread French toast , veggies scrambled eggs and crispy bacon. Just like what everyone said, the banana bread French toast was soooo delicious. If they could only add one more slice in the serving size, then I will totally be happy 😁. That being said, I can't share it with my husband who had the veggie scrambled eggs. He said the home fries that came with it was excellent. I don't know how home fries can be excellent so I tried a couple and omg... it was very tasty, well seasoned and so damn delicious. Their coffee and bacon were very good.
Verdict: We will be back . Glad we...
