“OUTSTANDING”
Both the food and service make this charming hidden gem, #1 in both Boca Raton and Palm Beach County.
Chef Ron with his creativity and cut edge food and his lovely wife Rhonda who runs the front of the house and makes the desserts are the consummate restauranteurs.
Dined with friends from New York City who are also real foodies. First Chef Ron served an amazing Amuse Bouche, pork tenderloin over a sweet potato puree. It was so good we asked if he was going to put it on the next menu, which he is.
Started with Smoked Duroc pork belly dumplings with a sweet chili glaze and cucumber noodles, amazing. Also had the house smoked seafood sausage, over sweet potato, apricot mango preserve, and a thai chili pesto, unbelievable.
Next we were served an intermezzo, a daily made sorbet which Chef Ron serves and asks to name the ingredients, tonight was mint, cucumber, and 2 other ingredients.
For entrees, I had orange mojo glazed duck breast with an unusual confit/roasted corn “quesadilla”, red peanut mole, and mango, superb. My wife ordered the Maine lobster stuffed gulf snapper, with roasted celery root over a sweet pea fondue. Normally it is flounder but tonight it was snapper. Excellent.
Our friends ordered the Pancetta Wrapped Organic Chicken, charred pepper, gorgonzola, broccoli rabe, purple potato/ white bean stew, and charred lemon and pan seared yellowfin tuna steak with a Mongolian marinade, cauliflower/pineapple “fried Rice”, celeriac dumplings, Siracha, and a cabbage blitz. They raved about both entrees.
Matisse was our waiter, attentive, personable and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Rhonda is constantly stopping at the table to make sure everything is perfect.
For dessert, we tried both the Twenty Twenty profiteroles, vanilla pate choux, rum raisin ice cream, and a homemade fudge sauce and the chocolate medium rare , a molten chocolate cake with a fresh raspberry puree. Both were great.
With our check, it is accompanied with a homemade peanut brittle.
Very nice wine list with some small wine producers. I would like to see some more reasonably priced wines.
Twenty Twenty Grille is a restaurant...
Read moreWe have been raving about Twenty Twenty Grille since they first opened. For superb American fusion fine dining, Twenty Twenty is the single outstanding restaurant in South Florida. Owners Chef Ron and his wife Rhonda (running the floor) offer peerless cuisine and service. Chef Ron carefully constructs seasonal menus from what is available and appropriate for each season, locally sourced if at all possible.
Each dish is artfully presented and cooked to perfection. Chef Ron will customize recipes for people with special dietary needs. Over the years, we have tried virtually every dish o every menu - all exceptional.
Among the starters, our favorites are "duck duck taco" and seafood sausage. Among the mains, we dream about the rack of lamb, the crab cakes, the duck, and recently the ribeye. At least one fresh fish is on every seasonal menu, and usually a vegetarian choice as well. For dessert, although we have tried everything, we keep coming back for the profiteroles. In addition to the various courses on the menu, every Twenty Twenty meal includes complementary home baked bread and artisan butter, an amuse bouche which Chef Ron concocts daily, a secret recipe palette cleanser sorbet, and macadamia brittle with dessert. On many occasions, Twenty Twenty offers tasting menus of virtually everything on the menu. Wine pairings are available with these tasting menus. The wine list is ample, and offers many wines by the glass.
On our most recent visit, Matteo was our server, as he has been many times before. A superb waiter, he is invariably helpful in making selections from the menu. His good humor and sweetness enhance the meal.
During this awful pandemic, Twenty Twenty Grille has done an extraordinary job arranging socially distanced tables with fans or heaters as needed. No other restaurant in South Florida has so masterfully handled the pandemic and the need to social distance. Bravo Twenty Twenty!
Dining doesn't get any better any place in the world. In Boca, we are so lucky to have Twenty Twenty Grille. Diners travel long distances to experience Twenty Twenty Grille's gastronomic...
Read moreI have NEVER in my life experienced such TERRIBLE Customer Service! After calling and being told by Rhonda that we were a party of 3 and DID NOT have reservations we were told to Valet park at Chop Lobster bar and walk over. After driving around in circles for over 15 minutes. I finally found this restaurant. It’s very quaint and I waited over 5 mini to be helped. A waiter came in and after searching for another 5 minutes decided to give us the table that a party who had a reservation which was originally inside but opted for outside when they arrived. However, just when he was about to seat us (he was African American) in walks Rhonda with a very snappy attitude complaining that she was having rough night because of “parking”. She then stopped the waiter from seating us and stated she didn’t have anything for me and asked if I tried the Japanese restaurant across from them. If I wanted JAPANESE, I would have went there. I felt as though she simply saw 3 African Americans that she did not want at her restaurant because there was clearly availability. I then asked her who answered the phone and told me to come after I told them I didn’t have a reservation and she presented to lie and say she didn’t know. She stated someone named Carlos could have answered when I told her I spoke with a women she said another random name. However, when I left and called back. She answered all 3 times. It’s sad that it’s 2023 and we are still plagued with RACISM. I say this because there is NO OTHER EXPLANATION of why we could not be accommodated especially since we were in the act of being seated when she waltz in with a look of “what are you guys doing HERE” on her face. My advice: EAT ELSEWHERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE...
