We have dined in twice at this location first time with my FIL who helps with their oil tanks and second time on my own with the wife and kids.
Can honestly say the sandwich’s are the best part. Chicken was consistently well cooked (which I should hope so after learning about the cooking process) and had awesome flavor, but just like others are saying, like warm. Fries were solid both times. Kids meals have a good portion size (but weirdly have been denied a drink both times for the kids) first time my FIL ordered one of every sandwich for the table. Nashville was my favorite with a close second being the butter. I also preferred the seasoned fries over standard. Mac and cheese was just a miss overall. Daughter is a Big Mac fan and wouldn’t eat it. I tried it. Noodles were very mushy and had kind of a weird after taste so I sort of had to agree with her
Biggest complaints have to be atmosphere, lack of friendly staff, and prices.
Atmosphere and interior: both times my wife, kids and I went there, there have been no high chairs. It’s all benches. They offer kids meals and no high chairs. The bench’s are kind of a safety hazard to be honest. Saw an elderly man have a difficult time trying to get in an out of his seat. The benches anre the length of the tables maybe 4-8ft? Not the easiest to maneuver especially in big groups. Only matter of time before somebody falls back and hits their head. Other than that inside was clean, bathrooms clean, products stocked. Garbages attended to.
Lack of friendly staff is pretty self explanatory. Not expecting a full on convo I’m obviously there to eat, but even when I said this was my first time I was met with blank stares and annoyed looks for taking a few mins to look at the menu. It is what it is, I don’t hold this against the restaurant, but when you only have one person interacting with the guests behind the counter it kind of is the face of the restaurant.
Prices: honestly felt very expensive for dine in. Once you add your side in and even consider a drink it’s well over priced in comparison to fast food chicken places.
Overall I’d say it’s definitely one of the better chicken shacks around. A must try and we will be back just hope they get those high...
Read moreFry The Coop offers a vibrant and satisfying experience for anyone seeking fried comfort food with a flavorful twist. During my visit, I ordered the Messy Fries topped with crispy chicken and their Spicy Butter sandwich, both prepared at a mild spice level. The Messy Fries were a standout – crispy yet tender fries generously topped with juicy chicken, providing a delightful balance of textures. The Spicy Butter sandwich was equally impressive; the fried chicken was perfectly cooked, maintaining a crispy exterior that contrasted beautifully with the soft bun and creamy, mildly spicy butter sauce. It’s a dish that hits all the right notes without overwhelming the palate.
The staff at Fry The Coop deserves special mention for their friendliness and willingness to help undecided guests navigate the menu, adding to the welcoming and casual atmosphere. Price-wise, Fry The Coop strikes a balance, with offerings that are neither too pricey nor too cheap, ensuring a great value for the quality of food served.
The interior of Fry The Coop is spacious and thoughtfully decorated, creating an inviting and comfortable atmosphere for diners. The ample seating ensures that even during busy times, customers have space to settle in and enjoy their meals without feeling cramped. The decor has a vintage, Americana-inspired feel, with nostalgic signs and vinyl records adorning the walls, adding character to the space. Subtle string lights across the ceiling give it a warm, laid-back vibe, making it a great spot for both groups and solo diners. This unique setup further enhances the dining experience, complementing the flavorful food and friendly service.
However, one point of note is their use of beef oil for frying, despite offering halal chicken. While this may not affect all customers, making the switch to a fully halal preparation would certainly broaden their appeal, especially given the substantial Muslim community in the area. Adjusting this aspect could open the door to an even wider customer base. Overall, Fry The Coop’s food and service make it a delightful spot for fried chicken fans, with just one tweak needed to make it a fully...
Read more*just want everyone to know that over 80% of the reviews are from the restaurant or people they know that most likely got paid to make a “good review”. And I can tell that because they all sound very similar and way too descriptive. This place is a joke. The people running it are even more of a joke. They have no clue how to run a business. They don’t know how to cook food properly. The food is over priced. The customer service/management is absolutely terrible and act like immature children. They have to make fake reviews because no one wants to eat their food. That speaks for itself.
I was hired a few weeks before the Bolingbrook location opened for a lead position. However, four days before the soft opening, they abruptly let me go for no apparent reason. I was instructed to contact HR for an explanation, but I never received a response despite sending an email, which is apparently the only way to reach HR.
Here are some concerning aspects of this establishment:
Food Quality: The food is not of good quality. All the chicken used at every location, is cooked at the Darien location and then transported to other locations. As a result, none of the chicken is fresh. Furthermore, everything is premade, the mac and cheese, the coleslaw, the potato salad, everything is premade and delivered to the store including the lemonade, which comes from concentrate. Even the donuts are the same as those you can buy from a gas station. Everything is of such low quality.
Management: The management is even worse. They rushed the opening of the Bolingbrook location and hired people for management positions without any training or knowledge of what they’re doing. They exhibit poor professionalism, rudeness, and lack the necessary skills to handle situations effectively and appropriately.
Overall, this establishment is a...
