A Missed Opportunity for Excellence

Recently, I had the chance to visit Hello Shawarma, a newly opened location in Bolingbrook, IL. My visit was marred by the poor service provided by the supervisory staff, which I believe could significantly impact the restaurant’s long-term success.

Upon entering the restaurant, the ambiance was inviting, and the menu offered a promising selection of items.

I had three of my friends with me who had not previously visited this establishment.

Our order was incomplete, as one order of fries was missed by the cashier, and despite the manager's efforts to rectify the situation, we did not receive the fries for my friend. While it was not a significant issue since we were not charged for it, there was no apology or offer of a replacement for the inconvenience.

Furthermore, my rice bowl was predominantly filled with salad, particularly pickles, and contained very little rice or meat. When I inquired with the supervisor about the excessive number of pickles—showing him the thirty pickles in my bow. He responded in a discourteous manner, stating that they do not have specific portion size for their vegetables.

He then asked me, rather sarcastically, how the other vegetables I had already consumed were, implying that they were also excessive before walking away. This interaction was both rude and unprofessional for someone in a supervisory position.

It’s crucial in the restaurant industry that supervisors lead by example, foster a positive environment, and ensure that the staff are motivated and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, this was not the case here.

Excellent take out shawarma experience here the other night. The place I had been planning on going to in Naperville closed earlier than I expected so I did a quick search and found this newish looking restaurant was only a 10 min drive south and that they were open until midnight. Everything on the menu sounded reallly good so I went ahead and tried to order through Toast but the order kept glitching out when I went to pay. Not sure if this was because it was already 11:15 or some other reason so I decided to just drive over and try my luck.

They’re located in nice strip mall next to an Eiffel Waffle and a Boba place and I was glad to see that there were still people ordering and dining in when I arrived. The restaurant is clean all around and the staff are very friendly. It was no problem and no extra charge to get a half steak and half chicken shawarma bowl with also both types of rice so that I could get a taste of everything which I really appreciated.

The bowl was absolutely delicious. Nicely charred, well seasoned meat with great tasting rice (both the red and yellow) as well as fresh salad and veggies and some of the best shatta, tahini, and garlic sauce I’ve had yet. The hot sauce was the perfect balance of acidity and heat. Big serving sizes and canned drink included for $15.99. They had sensibly priced Dubai chocolate bars and basbousa at the register and I opted for the latter. It is good but maybe a little too reliant on coconut for my taste.

In any case, I can’t wait to stop by Hello Shawarma again. I think next time I’ll give their fluffy pita a try. I had to fight pretty hard to avoid ordering one while watching them roll out while waiting...

Absolutely phenomenal experience! I recently visited this shawarma place and was genuinely impressed by everything from start to finish. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure I felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout my visit. The ambiance was clean and inviting, with a pleasant atmosphere that made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal.

Now, let’s talk about the food — wow! The shawarma was packed with flavor, perfectly spiced, and cooked to perfection. The meat was juicy and tender, while the fresh vegetables and sauces added a refreshing and delicious balance. The portions were generous, and every bite was satisfying. I also appreciated how fresh everything tasted, clearly made with care and quality ingredients.

Whether you’re a longtime shawarma lover or trying it for the first time, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone craving amazing Middle Eastern cuisine. Five stars...
