Just awful. Walked in asking where to sit. They said we could sit anywhere so we tried to sit at a table outside and they told us not outside. Okay,fine..we were greeted by the server who maintained a scowl on her face throughout the whole experience. We ordered nachos ,a beer, and a pizza. The nachos took forever to come out. The place was almost empty besides a few tables so it wasn't that they were busy. Got our pizza a while later after we finished the nachos bc we were so hungry. We ate the pizza which wasn't that great, especially for the price. To be honest I wouldn't have cared about everything else if the server had an ounce of friendly in her. But she was cold the whole time, and it made our experience unenjoyable. Seemed like she just wanted us to leave the whole time, and rushed us to pay. Got a box,one more beer and the bill. I am usually a good tipper, since I work in the restaurant business as well, but I tipped her $2 on a $50 bc of her awful attitude, saying she was mean. Now get this, she reached over me to take the slip that had the tip on it that was on the table, read it,came back, and tried to interrogate me while I was still eating. She took my full beer off my table that I paid for, saying I had to much to drink(which that was my 2nd),and left. We got up to leave, but I asked to talk to a manger about what happened, and the lady at the bar said she was the manager and that she would call the police. I said f it and left, not wanting to deal with them anymore. All because that lady was undertipped. I've had people come in and spend $100s and not tip. Yea,it sucks. But you do not react like that. I would be fired if I did that. Their manager supported her actions. I'm disgusted by the level of disrespect that took place there. Overall it was overpriced for mediocre food and awful service. Idk how they operate most nights, but don't go there on a...
Read moreOn our 2nd visit in a month to Island house we experienced 3 wonderful varieties of pizza. Our companions from Chicago kept asking is it Chicago thin crust? My reply was wait and see! the easiness of this newly renovated allows you to sit inside or out and is somewhat open air with the double door entry left open. there is no hostess you sit wherever you please! a plus in my book. The atmosphere is "BEACH HOUSE CHIC" circa 1960 and I love it. The bar is fairly large and not crowded , and there is a back dining area with several tv's for sports or whatever is current. Outside offers 10 or picnic style tables with bistro lights for a courtyard feel on busy Bonita Beach RD. Cheese pizza is 1/2 price on Tuesday (you pay full price for added topping) and a bargain for 9.95 for the 16" large. Our friends ordered Sausage and mushroom extra thin and crispy and it came out perfect, we ordered plan and anchovy , and onion and mushroom ( no special instructions) all were prepared perfect. The only thing that kept this from 5 stars was our waiter who seemed clueless and we had to seek him out to order and refresh drinks. Later in the evening a waitress who happened to be passing by noticed the void and pitched in to help us. Our 1 st visit included roasted wings which we requested split 1/2 hot and 1/2 not was accommodated with a smile and tasted wonderful. BEER AND WINE ONLY . Update new owners, pizza has...
Read moreI want to share my recent experience at your restaurant because I’ve always enjoyed coming here as a local, but today’s visit was extremely disappointing.
I came in with a small group of friends, and from the moment we sat down, our server, Molly, was rude. It felt as though we were being treated differently because we are a group of 20-year-olds, but regardless of age, no guest should receive the service we did.
I ordered shrimp tacos, but the food runner brought out fish tacos instead. I politely let them know about the mistake, and they apologized, saying they would inform the kitchen. However, Molly then came out and very rudely insisted that I had ordered fish tacos. I calmly reiterated that I had ordered shrimp, but I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. She then said, “No, you didn’t, but I won’t argue with you,” and angrily walked away. On her way back inside, she also made a snarky comment to the food runner.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for over 4 years, I understand that mistakes happen, but the way Molly handled the situation was unprofessional and uncalled for. My friends and I are all locals, and we have always enjoyed coming here, especially after a beach day. The food is great, and we’ve had good experiences in the past, but this service was...
