We came here because it says they make their own pasta and sauce. Perfect. We made reservations and were seated promptly. I noticed there was alot of food crumbs in the booth between the seat and the back. I hesitated to sit but sat anyway. The floor where I stood was sticky and I noticed the flies. The flies I chalked up to the doors being opened. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, steak paparedelli and buttered noodles, goat cheese salad and a Caesar salad. The goat cheese salad was unedible. There were so ma y things wrong here. The spaghetti was a mush they took it back to remake but took so long We wondered. The steak was good. The pasta was clumped together and I had to cut it like a potato. We decided to pay and leave. The waitress who was lovely asked for feedback. Which I gave. As pasta makers..when you make fresh pasta their is a slim marginal line for no errors. It also seems there is no semolina flour in the pasta dough, way too much sauce in the dishes. Presentation is everything. You cannot serve patrons the way you serve yourself at home. The meatballs had a mushy texture. Almost like meatloaf. The sauces had no flavor! A homemade sauce gives so much room for growth and improvement. My husband thinks we should go and try something else on the menu as the manager on duty gave a discount on the bill. We would have just paid it and not gone back. But he showed good management and judgment in the meal comps. So, Thanks for that. An hour or so after we got home we both had stomach ache though. I'm chalking that up to the fruit flies. O the calamari and eggplant fries was very. Very greasy. The breading from the calamari kept falling off. The kids menu needs a revamp and there need to be significant improvements with the sauce, pasta and cleanliness. If you are going to use pasta as your corner stone, it needs to be the BEST!!

We absolutely fell in love with Basil's. It has been on my list for awhile as a place to check out. I am so glad we did! We had had a lackluster dining experience the night before a different restaurant & Basil's completely redeemed the trip culinarily. We ordered bottle service mimosas, a great deal & was more than enough for the 2 of us. I have a feeling that everything on their menu is amazing. But, we ordered the tempeh Banh mi with sweet potato fries & the avocado BLT with chips &a pickle. Both sandwiches were delicious. I cannot choose which one I prefer and I cannot wait to get back to Boone to order those again and try some new ones. And the sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had. My partner doesn't really care for SPF & was hoping to try the eggplant fries, but they were out. I still want to try those, but these sweet potato fries even converted him. They are addictive! The atmosphere is cozy and stylish. I certainly was not expecting such an upscale (in a good, relaxed way) vibe from a restaurant within a strip mall. They have done wonders with the space. I was very impressed. And the staff was attentive, informative, and conversational. A++ in my book. If you haven't been, definitely add it to your itinerary next time you are in the area.

4/5/25: The burger gives The Comeback Shack a run for the money. 5 stars. 10/12/23: Slow service. Abundance of flies. It also approached my price point limit for going elsewhere (E.g. $9 for adding salmon to a Caesar salad.) 7/5/21: Consistently great experience time after time. The Roast Beef and Bacon on Sourdough (toasted) is great though the amount of bacon seems to have decreased and can only be seen when the sandwich is cut in half. My spouse really liked the tomato soup. Just one block off 321 so even (especially?) if the traffic is mad at the world, stop in for a draft beer and a sandwich. Previous post: --- Great but quick food - main dishes, sandwiches, and appetizers. The pasta dishes are the best around. Great draft beer selection and rotating taps from near and far. The menu changes every so often so it's a great place to come to time after time. There's outside seating but also two sections inside since this is apparently where Booneshine initially opened their brewpub. COVID restrictions are well respected. There are vegan options. The staff is awesome. We live nearby and this is place is both convenient and one of our go-to restaurants.

Was at Basil's on 10/20 arrive around 8 p.m. to a 15 minute wait. Our table was cleared for me and my family and the wait was not long. Waited a bit for the server to bring menus they brought the drink menus first they couldn't find the regular dinner menu. There was no silverware on the table. We ordered an appetizer. And they brought the appetizer still no silverware or plates. We asked our server if she can get us plates and silverware she said yes proceeded to talk to three other tables. She went back in the kitchen and when she returned she talked to the table joining us. When she turned around she said can we can I get anything for you. We indicated we still need silverware and plates, her response was, “oh yeah, yep”. And proceeded to walk off. 2nd time. She came back into the dining area I was talking to the table adjacent to us. a member of my party got up and interrupted her conversation said we are still waiting on our silverware and plates to what she rolled her eyes turn around walked off. 3rd time. has she returned to the dining area there are three members in our party she has two sets of silverware in her hand no plates as she walks by our table making no eye contact she tosses the silverware on the table and procedes to go to an adjacent table. As we stand up to speak with her about her abhorrent behavior, we ask to speak to her manager at which she starts backing up towards the kitchen on her heels with her hands in front of her chest making a cupping motion sayin, “come on come on come on.” Once we found the manager and then describe the server's behavior, the manager seemed like a deer caught in the headlights not knowing what to do or what to say. Our party left and will not return. we've enjoyed Basils on many occasions and spent lots of our hard-earned money there. Management's lack of their ability to address the situation says I'll...

I had to choose one star! I would say this place deserves “no stars” if there ever was a place. The service here is the worst I have experienced ever! Let’s just tell this story. We arrived and were directed toward a booth to the side. There were two other booths occupied and a gentleman sitting at the bar, so I would have thought they were not busy. We sat down and waited. And waited. About twenty minutes went by, and my wife got up and asked one of the three employees wandering about, “Is someone going to take our order?” The answer? “Oh, I forgot to tell someone to wait on you.” Now that is the first time I’ve heard that one…but someone did meander to our table and took our drink order…a tea and a beer. The tea arrives within a couple of minutes, but no sign of the beer. I wait. And I wait…for about ten minutes. During this time, I notice another couple arrive and sit at the bar, and immediately the employee behind the bar waits on them and gets them their drinks. A few minutes later, they are eating appetizers, and my wife and I are staring at a glass of tea and a water, and no sign of the beer I ordered. In fact, there’s no one at the bar even pouring it. The three employees are still meandering about and doing everything except wait on customers. I finally get up and ask how much do I owe for the tea, and tell them I am leaving because apparently they are so busy they can’t wait on customers. I tell them I am done and just let me pay for the tea. Then my wife and I leave. I’ve actually been going to Basil’s when I’m in Boone since it opened. I will never return. I’m not buying the “short-staffed” excuse here: what I witnessed was “lousy service” and if it is like this very often, I can’t imagine how...
