OVERVIEW: Wanted to try this place with some friends so we went for lunch. I ordered the jalapeno burger after much deliberation. Friends ordered the Cactus boat and the shrimp taco. Restaurant was busy. Our waitress wore combat boots which made for good conversation and she was very nice and accommodating. Place was clean. Of interest was the concrete floors and how they are finished with color- nice! PROS the food was fantastic! The amount of choices is the reason I deliberated for so long. I wanted the Coronado (blackened salmon) but then saw the Barbados (jerk chicken) and finally the jalapeño burger which won out in the end. It wasn’t a mistake. Very delicious! I tried the Cactus and felt I missed out because that tasted so good too! Prices were definitely agreeable. Food came fast. They also have outdoor seating. CONS I honestly usually always find something to put in my CON section but I can’t think of anything to in’s here. SUMMARY It was a great experience and I look forward to going back next time I am in town. If you don’t go you will miss a great favorite restaurant in Boone.

Get the Texicali "boat". The cranberry salsa was very unique and flavorful. Eat outside and enjoy the breeze. Gavin, our server, hooked me up and gave me great recommendations. He was very timely and helpful. Have him train others.

My son was married in Boone and the bride and groom, being App State alumni, wanted Coyote Kitchen to cater the rehearsal dinner. I couldn't have asked for anything more from Warren who we dealt with from start to finish! He was awesome! He was so accommodating. Because every single one of us attending the wedding was from out of town, everything had to be done by phone and email. Warren met me at our event space (Courtyard Marriott) as soon as I arrived in town and we talked about where to set the food up. He set up all of the serving trays while we were busy setting the room up to be ready for our guests to arrive immediately after the rehearsal. He returned with the food, set it up, and had it warming while we were at the rehearsal. He even offered to run to the store or any other errand if I found I was missing something!!! He then came back and cleaned everything up when we were done. He was friendly and kind and made the stress of the day disappear. Thank you, Warren! You did a great job and I so appreciate you!

Our recent visit to Coyote Kitchen was disappointing. We had a wonderful experience back in 2019 and were looking forward to returning. Upon our trip, we drove by on two separate occasions only to find it too busy for our liking. The third time we drove by, we arrived at 3:30 PM to find the restaurant nearly empty, which we initially thought was a great thing.

From the start, our server seemed disengaged and not in the best mood. While we understand the challenges of serving while wearing a mask, it seemed to agitate our dog, causing it to bark whenever the server approached. We cannot blame the server for this, but it didn't help the situation. Assigning someone more comfortable with dogs might have been a better solution. He also switched sides while serving, often reaching over the railing, which startled our pups. When we requested straws for our drinks, he asked how many we needed, which seemed a bit rude since we only had two drinks that required straws.

The food was very disappointing. We started off with chips and salsa, but the mango salsa, labeled as medium heat, lacked spiciness. The pico de gallo was good; however, the chips tasted store-bought and not freshly made. For our main courses, my dad ordered the chicken tacos with chips, my mom ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with bleu cheese, and I ordered a black and bleu burger without bleu cheese and with cheddar instead. When the food arrived, the chicken tacos were correct, but the chicken sandwich was burnt and tasted like charcoal, and it lacked bleu cheese. My burger had bleu cheese and no bacon, and included pickled onion, which I did not ask for.

When we brought these issues to the server's attention, he blamed the kitchen and offered to remake the meals. I decided not to reorder due to the multiple errors with my burger, but my mother did. When they came out with the remade chicken sandwich, it was very dry and stringy, almost as if the chicken had been pre-cooked. Additionally, the payment process on a tablet, with high percentage tip options, felt intrusive, especially given the subpar service and the fact the server stood over us while we were looking at the bill and deciding on the tip. They took off our meals for my mom and I, after we had to request it..

In conclusion, our visit at 3:30 PM may have coincided with a shift change, but this does not excuse the poor food and service. It might have been better for the restaurant to close briefly if such issues were anticipated. Sadly, this experience has left us disheartened, and we won't be returning. We hope this review helps others make an informed decision and perhaps encourages the restaurant to improve their training and...

I keep returning here because the food is usually good but tonight was the last straw for me. The service and experience are always, without fail, terrible. I've never once had a good experience eating in the restaurant. My only good experience, in fact, was ordering to-go early in the pandemic. One time, I was seated and completely forgotten about (as were other tables around me), and I had to eventually get up and ask the waitress to take my order. Then no one ever came to get my payment, so I finally had to get up and go to the front and ask to pay so I could leave. Tonight, every aspect of my time there went badly. I walked in and was at first seated in the worst possible seat in the restaurant, crammed in between another party and the hostess station, while people constantly surrounded and buzzed around my (wobbly) table. Note there were several other tables available. Finally, as the chaos overwhelmed me, I asked to move, and was seated in another bad location right in the middle of the restaurant. For our entire meal, my husband constantly got his chair knocked into by people walking by and and squeezing in between tables. They never brought the beverage my husband ordered. The french fries were over-done, soggy, almost cold and seemed like they had been sitting out all day, and the amount we we were given was WAY less than others who ordered the exact same thing in the exact same size. It looked like someone had just carelessly tossed the last of an old batch into a bowl and called it a day. The burrito I usually get wasn't as good today, as it seems they've changed some of the ingredients. I had to send the first one back because it included an ingredient I asked to be left out, then I waited FOREVER for the second one to come out--no apology, no discount. I lost my appetite and barely ate any of my food and was forced to go to Taco Bell afterward. This will be the last time I eat here for a very long time, if ever again. This place doesn't seem to understand that the experience is nearly as important as the food. I recommend ordering to-go and eating it at home for a...

Last night I went to coyote kitchen with my friends for my birthday. When we got there everything was great- until it wasn’t. We got there at 6:50 and waited about 15 minutes for a table for 5 which was great. We sat down and had Madi as our server (she’s the only reason this review isn’t one star, she was phenomenal!) we all ordered and our food took FOREVER! Two meals came out 30 minutes after we ordered. Two other meals came out about 20 minutes after that. Finally, my meal came about 20 minutes after that. One of our meals was completely wrong which is only extra irritating because it came out so late and my meal (I ordered double meat) had maybe 5 pieces of chorizo in it. Our wonderful server Madi took care of us and did offer free desserts and apps which was great but my biggest issue is that during all of this, the waiting, being told the kitchen is drowning, and our food being incorrect the General manager was sitting outside of the restaurant on a bench drinking and on her phone the entire 2+ hours we were there. that’s ridiculous!!! This restaurant needs to give servers like Madi a raise and the general manager needs to learn how to manage. I was hoping for a nice birthday meal with my friends but did not receive that at all. Thank you Madi for taking care of us and being so kind and caring throughout all the mishaps, shame on the general manager for letting her employees struggles and her customers suffer from it. Don’t know if I’ll be back for...
