So, I wanna tell y'all about my experience with this place, but first .. let's just tell you why I was lead to Penn station East Coast subs !
I originally went to Jimmy John's and got the worst customer service you could possibly think of and down type of attitude from the staff I couldn't imagine spending $20 for a meal for that type of service.
So, as I declined the option to probably be disappointed even more to the neighbors of this Penn station restaurant, I saw a shopé next to them that I didn't even know was there because it's hidden behind trees. Off the street of the main road. I'm not even sure you can drive over to that store or not. Needless to say I walked over to this sub shop to check it out and see if I could get any better service over there, and omg 😱 it was probably the best experience and BEST SUB I'VE EVER EATEN !! The guy that was running the place had a great ! Attitude and as I walked in and greeted him he greeted me with the same type of energy and matched so, I explained some of the issue I had next door and asked some questions and he was eager to explain his can do's and they were above and beyond what I was hoping for by even grilling some onions and slapping them on my sandwich !!
I got the Italian I believe it was and this guy knows what he's doing !! I also got a medium home style fries to share with the family, 👌 perfectly cooked ! The sandwich was loaded but not so loaded you couldn't eat it. I spent $20+ on a medium fry and a "12 sub and I honestly got what I paid for ! The flavor profiles were on point !! And I will now forever go to PENN STATION for my lunch when I go to Boone each month ! And I will hope that same guy will be inside of there so I can get that exact same sandwich again. The only thing I would change is get a little extra cheese on my sub and possibly add about ½ amount of the oil and vinegar extra on the sandwich because my gawd was it absolutely the best sandwich ever ! I don't even know if I would ask to do anything different to be honest.
And this was an exceptional sandwich, great people that I had a great conversation about the foods there they serve and excellent customer service etiquette that's most definitely going to keep me coming for more. I do tend to leave honest reviews, good and bad. But not always if it's mediocre. So, them to get this good of a review from me i hope the people that served me gets to see this and know I appreciate them and putting such a great sandwich together and know it meant something to someone.! .. you guys did an excellent job! And I truly...
Read moreI've been craving a solid cheesesteak since my wife and I moved to the area.
Noticed this place kinda tucked away, and after reading some reviews, decided to wait for the next time my mother visited us, as grabbing a cheesesteak is kind of one of our silly traditions.
Well, that happened yesterday, 03.07.23, around 12.30p.
First, and most importantly (for me,) the two folks working there were super nice and friendly. Such nice people.
We ordered two cheesesteaks, split a medium fry, and two sodas. When ordering, I asked for a side of buffalo sauce, or hot sauce, and the gentlemen very politely told me that corporate has a pretty strict menu selection, and they didn't carry it in the store... Huge bummer, a cheesesteak dipped in buffalo sauce is one of our all time favorites.
It came to ~$32, which was kinda on the pricey side, but, that's everything these days.
They came up pretty quickly, and when we got our food, I asked for some yellow mustard for my fries... This time the lady politely informed me that... wait for it... corporate has a pretty strict menu selection, and they didn't carry it in the store.
She offered me Dijon or honey mustard as an alternative, but, I declined.
The cheesesteaks were phenomenal, the fries were delicious, and we absolutely loved our meal. I've eaten cheesesteaks around the globe, and this was with no doubt in the top five.
Sadly, I've gotta give them four stars. Solely driven by the lack of condiment selection. They've even got a Reuben on the menu, that looks delicious. But I can't imagine a Reuben without yellow mustard.
And don't get me started on having a Pepsi trash fountain over a Coca-cola fountain selection.
I will definitely be back. Just sucks that I'll have to bring in a bottle of Texas Pete (a NC original!) and some yellow mustard.
It's a shame their corporate office won't listen to their folks on what their customers...
Read moreWe went around 7pm. The restaurant was empty but still pretty grubby. When the person at the register couldn't tell us what the monthly special was, we almost left but my little boy wanted to try a Dagwood. There were two other employees who just talked the entire time we were there. Also, four other customers (one was drive through) went through before we got our food. However, one of the workers gave my son some leftover mini cookie dough blobs I guess they bake after making the regular cookies while we were waiting. We spent $34 on two regular sized subs and a small sub meal that included a small fry and a fountain drink. Out of that, my son liked the fountain drink and we all thought the bread was underbaked, as in colorless and doughy. My reuben was so greasy that orange oil leaked through the wrapper, the bag, and soaked the floor mat of my car. None of us could actually finish our food because it was simply gross, aside from us all splitting the old, gummy and cold fries until we could get home and actually eat decent food. My little boy (he's 10) said he would eat there again to prevent the world from ending, but he's just kidding. Meaning he'd rather face the apocalypse than have to eat dinner at this place again. That's got to be the worst value for the money in restaurant food in the town of Boone. Do yourself a favor. There's a Jimmy John's and a Subway literally within a couple hundred yards of this place. Go to either of those instead, pay half as much, and get food that you can at least physically force...
