One of the best places to order traditional cuisine in the tri-state area! If you have never been here before, you are missing out on a truly wonderful culinary experience. When you walk into this restaurant, keep in mind that while the inside may be small due to the majority of buildings on Main Street in Boonton having been constructed in the 1800’s, the flavors and atmosphere within are immense! From the moment you sit down to the moment you leave, you are treated like family by the friendly, welcoming staff who run this restaurant. I cannot recall a single time when my cup ran out of a beverage or where I did not have something to eat in front of me. No matter what you order on the menu, you will receive freshly prepared, quality ingredients with incredible flavor and attention to detail. The presentation itself is a work of art!
My personal recommendations are the Chimichangas, the Cowboy Burrito, the Tacos and the absolutely amazing Flan! The churros are also highly recommended too—and they have birch beer!
So, if you are planning to visit Boonton, give this wonderful, family-owned restaurant a try! The food is delicious and the portions and prices are very generous for what you receive, the service is phenomenal and the atmosphere is colorful and festive! You will not...
Read moreSorry, I take no pleasure in writing a negative review for a place where the staff and presentation were otherwise very nice. No bad experiences with service or staff - all were great. But I have to comment on the food.
The guacamole was watered down and flavorless. The hard shell tacos were soggy and falling apart, everything was slathered in cheese (unexpectedly). No sauces to speak of. Flavor overall was somewhat bland, but really what prompted this review was...
...There was a huge piece of plastic in one of my tacos. I'm sitting here eating a bowl of cereal because I could not finish my meal, nor could my girlfriend, after finding this in my food. It was a rather large "ring" of what looked like partially melted plastic wrap. How did this find its way into my food? I could have choked or hurt my teeth. It was actually a GOOD thing that the tacos were falling apart, otherwise I might not have discovered this (naturally, thought it was cheese at first). Sorry, I won't be going back here.
I'll come back to post the pic since my girlfriend took it...
Read moreWhile not a regular customer that comes to sit and eat, we do eat from here probably once a month or so ever since we moved to Boonton about two years ago. We usually pick up the fajitas and chips and salsa to go.
Their food is excellent. Well cooked, flavorful, tender meats. Fresh-made chips and salsa (I'd rate the salsa a medium for hotness), fresh tortillas. Each portion you'd think is a little spendy just from the price, but each is really two meals so you're not losing value. The only time I've gotten a burrito as good is from a taco truck in San Diego.
Flavor-wise, a good comparison is Jose Tejas, but Willie's is of vastly better quality and finish for a premium.
