Kelly's Cafe — Restaurant in Boothbay Harbor

I was just coming on to leave a well deserved 5-star review when I read Amy Roberts' review that was just left before mine. I am shocked! I had the quiche, and let me just say, it was DELICIOUS and absolutely not overly salty! However, more disturbing was her comments regarding the story Kelly tells to the children. We were lucky enough to listen in on Kelly’s treasure chest story that she told to a family of 5, who had 3 children with them. To see the excitement on their faces as Kelly enthusiastically described her adventures at the beach, and the sea creatures she befriended while there, that ended with a treasure chest that was chock full, not only of candy, but also of the most adorable fish that Kelly HAND KNITS was magical!! For this woman to tear her story apart, and then say that she killed Bob the Dolphin (a character in her story) is appalling. Kelly, Gina and the whole group of people working at the café deserve so much better!! It is rare to meet such friendly, attentive, kind people, and my heart is broken for them that this review was left. Ignore Amy’s comment, and JUST GO TO KELLY’S!!!!

Even though the inn we were staying at served a good free hot breakfast every morning, we went to Kelly's Cafe multiple times instead during our week in Boothbay. It was that good.

I am a French Toast-aholic and theirs has to rank as one of the best that I ever had. It was The Jersey that I fell in love with the most though. My son had it the first time there and he said it was really good so I just had to try it the next day. Yep. It was so good that I got it again on our last day.

I cannot recall what my wife and daughter got but they were raving about how good theirs were. My daughter says that their gluten-free toast was so good that one would not be able to tell it was gluten-free.

But for me, the main draw are the people. They all were so kind and sweet. They give Maine folk a good name.

Sadly, our vacation had to end so we are now back home 4+ hours away but who knows? Maybe one morning, the wife and I will look at each other, smile because we know what the other is thinking and then jump in the car to head back up...

Oh my, this place is lovely and bright! The individuals working here are welcoming, listen to you and serve with a smile. (I appreciate when you order two dishes and switch) we had biscuits and gravy scrambled egg and French toast with bacon. Best biscuits and gravy of my life!! Coffee is so rich and delicious!! It’s an intimate location (up stairs be prepared) with off street parking, clean bathrooms available. The food is so delicious, flavorful and generous portions. Luckily they do to go orders so you could call ahead and have someone with you go up the stairs or maybe if you ask and can’t climb stairs they could meet you at the base of the stairs.
