The start of this amazing visit was how easy it was to book the stay. TIP: Book early! The website pictures were very accurate about the room as well as the property. The whole staff was amazing and extra helpful. The breakfasts were over the top!! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would have.

From the moment we stepped onto Buzz and Mark's property we knew it was special. JP assisted us with getting settled in and did a great job of making us feel like family. From the greeting to the wonderful welcome cocktail served, we felt at home. Walking out onto the front lawn to relax we encountered a view of the harbor that was nothing short of stunning. Couple that with the wonderful gardens surrounding this slice of heaven told us we had arrived at what was going to be the highlight of our trip.

The Inn is spacious, the rooms well appointed, quiet and restful. The other guests were a delight to talk with. The staff was over the top helpful with recommendations of things to do, places to see and where to eat. There recommendations where always spot on. Every day the staff re-set our room, so when we returned from a day out, it was like checking into a new room. That coupled with great drinks served by Bobby in the bar, excellent Hors D'oeuvre served by JP on the lawn and some great games of Lobster Hole with other guests made the whole package better than anything we experienced in Boston, Bar Harbor, Portland, or Kennebunk Port.

The couple we traveled with came over for from their property and immediately experienced "Inn envy" and that means something from two people who only stay at the best properties like us.

When we return, and that will be soon, we plan on making Topside Inn our home away from home!

If you are lucky enough to secure a room at their Inn, you will in for a wonderful experience and...

Editing to let others know that our excellent experience has been consistent the past 3 years we have gone to the Topside Inn. My husband and I just visited for our 3rd consecutive year this past Memorial Day weekend. Let's just say we booked a FOURTH visit for next year and are even looking to come back in late fall this year to rent one of the single family homes Topside owns. Topside is nothing short of magical. It's more like coming to see good friends than it is coming to an inn or a business. Yes, the views are spectacular and there is no restaurant that can match the flavor, freshness, and detail they put into their breakfasts and baked goods. My husband and I are foodies and we have yet to have a meal as excellent as the breakfasts and treats Mark and Buzz create (they even wrote a cookbook--their recipes are THAT good). The rooms (and overall property) are so thoughtfully appointed, continuously updated, and comfortable and the common spaces are so cozy. But really--Buzz, Mark, Rebekah and now JP are the epitome of customer service. Above all, we value the service and genuine friendliness we get from the team at Topside that seems to be such a rarity in this day and age. While there, we want for nothing and we truly consider Topside our home away from home. We cannot recommend this perfect inn enough--and many of the friendly people we met (2 singles and 2 couples, to be exact) informed us they, too, have already booked for next year. Don't miss out! This inn and the people who manage it...

Could not have asked for a better experience than we had at The Topside Inn! The location is perfect - a 5 minute walk to the shops and restaurants in town, yet up on a hill with a fantastic view of the harbor and the dark night sky. The main building is absolutely beautiful - we especially loved the recently renovated, and gorgeous, bar area. And there is a wide porch where you can eat your breakfast or enjoy an afternoon cocktail with the homemade cookie of the day.

We've stayed at several B&Bs over the years, but have to say the food here is most definitely the best we've ever had. After starting the day with homemade english muffins, butters, and jams, we were served yogurt, fruit and granola (which we could smell baking when we checked in). Next, came a delicious AND creative entree. It was like dining at a top rated restaurant every morning! One afternoon we also ordered a picnic-style cheese/charcuterie tray to bring with us on a schooner ride. One word for this... AMAZING!

We chose a room in one of the separate buildings on the property. These include a deck - another great place to relax and take in the water views.

Mark and Buzz clearly aim to provide a memorable experience. They put a lot of effort into the design of the property, they make incredible food, and they spend time visiting with their guests. We also appreciated the care of the entire staff including Rebecca, Linda and Hayley. I could seriously go on and on. Definitely recommend The Topside Inn, and hopefully, we...

I took my wife to Topsides Inn for her birthday. The experience was ‘over the top’. When we arrived we were taken to a table overlooking the main lawn. We were served a tasty profiterole with cheese and cucumber lemonade mocktail with some cucumber infused vodka on the side. Later on we celebrated her birthday with friends and Prosecco, and a cheese and savory board. Our room was a corner one with a beautiful view of Boothbay Harbor. The king size bed was very nice. The room also had a wine bar with a variety of reds and whites to choose from. As it was her birthday, I asked for a bouquet of flowers to be in the room when we arrived. They made a beautiful arrangement made up from their garden and other suppliers. While they don’t offer dinner (there are several very nice restaurants nearby), their breakfast buffet is the best I’ve ever enjoyed. There was a good selection of muffins and fruits (the staff brought out a muffin with a birthday candle). They also offer a “sweet” or “savory “ main dish. That day it was eggs Benedict over either salmon or ham. (PS the eggs are fresh from the hens they keep on the grounds. Each hen has a name a photo of them.) The grounds and rooms are well designed and appointed. The staff is very cordial and attentive to your requests. The cost for this overnight stay was reasonable for what was delivered. The time spent there was over the top.

We've been coming to the Topside Inn for several years now, and it continues to be a highlight of our visits to Boothbay. While Mark and Buzz have moved on, they've clearly passed along their thoughtful touch and hospitality to the Chef and to Rebekah, who remains a warm and welcoming presence. Mary, the new General Manager, is a fantastic addition — she and Rebekah will make you feel right at home and are always happy to help you navigate Boothbay and beyond with a smile. Since we've visited so many times, I didn’t take many photos of the phenomenal — or as they like to say, "over-the-top" — breakfasts, but rest assured, they never disappoint. If the daily entrée isn’t quite your thing, they’re happy to whip up a fresh omelet. You’ll also find an array of fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, English muffin toast, homemade preserves, and specialty butters like sea salt, brown sugar, and honey walnut. In the afternoon, don’t miss the fresh-baked cookies — they’re always a treat. The views from the Adirondack chairs are the perfect way to unwind, and the cozy beds with their soft pillows and sheets always make us feel at home. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed!
