Very Sad... We have been going to Mine Oyster for years and it is truly one of the best places to see views of the Harbor. We truly have had nothing but excellent service there... Until tonight.. When we arrived we ordered 3 meals and an appetizer. My husband and I's sandwiches came out promptly but my friend's food who had ordered an appetizer and a sandwich meals did not arrive. 30 minutes after our meals were delivered we finally decided to ask the waitress what had happened to our friend's meal. The waitress proceeded to say that the kitchen was all messed up and that nobody knew what they were doing and that they were very angry at her for nagging them about the sandwich so she said she wasn't going to ask them again. This made no sense at all. We finally went to the Manager after an hour and told him the situation. It was very obvious that the waitress never brought it to his attention. The Manager tried his best to go in the back to see what was holding up the sandwich. He offered us a comp beer... by the time we got the sandwich it was an hour and a half after we ordered it. The waitress came over handed us my friends sandwich and her bill. I work in the restaurant industry and any restaurant I've ever worked in would have immediately comped the meal! They didn't even offer to do it. I finally told the waitress that the meal should be comped because we waited an hour and a half for a sandwich! The Manager agreed. I don't know what's going on there but somebody has to look into the staffing issues because we have never had this problem before. Our servers have always been competent, kind and always prompt in delivery of our meal. And truthfully it may have just been the kitchen but I feel that our server should have escalated it more quickly than she did. I am hoping that the Mine Oyster that we know and love will be back to...

We came into town late from a afternoon boat cruise in Bath and we were starving. We went to all the hot spots in town and they were all closing soon. We found this place on the pier and they were opened till 9. Perfect. The gentleman at the front was fun and chatty as we waited about 15 minutes to be seated. He was a wealth of knowledge and a delight. We were brought to our seats personally by him towards the back of the restaurant on the upper floor. It was still a busy night for them and the wait staff was hopping, no complaining or fussing, just rockin' and rollin'., as well as the music! We checked the menu quickly and my wife and I knew it was a seafood night for us. We had previously lived most of our lives on Cape Cod so we had high hopes for the food. It didn't disappoint!! I had the lobster stew and she had the clam chowder. We basically said it was some of the best we have ever had. The stew was jammed packed with lobster and crab and her chowder was perfect. I opted for the Captain's Platter and she got the fried haddock sandwich. They were phenomenal. The Platter had so much food on it and all of it was perfectly cooked. Oysters, shrimp, scallops, clams (strips and full bellied), haddock, slaw, fries. All of it was yum. She opined that the sandwich came loaded with a bit too much red onion (it did) but she said the fish was cooked to perfection with a light but crunchy coating and perfectly cooked interior. Our waitress was an absolute rock star running the bar and taking care of tables. Soda refills came unasked and she never wavered a bit. She got a very large tip! We were pleased to no end and we walked away with leftovers and full bellies along with knowing we picked the right place. Don't go to Boothbay Harbor without making a visit to this gem...

We had a horrible experience at Mine Oyster today. The food is laughably overpriced considering the quality of service and food that is served. We were seated and served drinks within the first 10 minutes, but then another male server came up and started to tell us the specials while pouring additional waters for us. The female bartender who had served our drinks told him we’d already ordered drinks. He proceeded to say “why didn’t you guys tell me?” and left. We waited another 15 minutes for a server to return, assuming that perhaps the female bartender who’d originally served us was actually our waitress. Not the case. The man returned and took our order. He was considerably less friendly when he returned and seemed incredibly distracted.

I ordered the blackened rare tuna sandwich and did not specify the side. What I received was a haddock sandwich with fries. Their menu states sandwiches are served with chefs choice side or you can order fries for an up charge of $2. I didn’t order fries, yet was charged for them because that’s what was served.

My boyfriend tried to order a second glass of the same beer he’d ordered from the bartender and the waiter argued with us stating that isn’t a beer they carry and he must be mistaken. He left to check and came back saying he was mistaken. Our bill listed the incorrect beer ordered twice.

This whole experience was truly terrible from start to finish. Wrong food, long wait for service, terrible service, very forgettable food, high prices per plate. Pass on this restaurant if you’re considering dining there...

This was our first trip to Maine, and I wanted to pick the best restaurants to eat at all weekend. I was particularly excited about this place, so I saved it for the last night. Right off the bat, we were impressed. The hostess was waiting outside and greeted us with a very welcoming smile. Then it got better from there. (I'm horrible with names) the gentleman who greeted us next and took our drink order was incredibly positive, and was very excited when I said I wanted to try raw oysters for the first time. He made sure I got the most perfect oysters there were, and did a great job because I absolutely loved them. Our waitress was phenomenal. Very kind and attentive. Every staff member we encountered made sure that we were having an amazing time, whether they were waiting on us or not. My husband got the wood fired lobster, and said it was the best lobster he'd ever had, and he had lobster for every single meal this weekend. Unfortunately I don't think that he'll ever be able to order lobster in NY again as his standards have been raised too high. I ordered the blackened fish tacos, which were exactly what I wanted. The perfect amount of spice and flavor. We finished off with the chocolate torte for our anniversary dessert. I would take another 9 hour trip just to eat at this restaurant.

Great casual restaurant! Great service from servers like Sydney, though food was a tad slow coming out (from kiddos’ perspective), but this isn’t fast food, so it was definitely worth the wait! We went four out of six nights! We even managed to please our extended family who is challenging to pry away from their tradition of going to Shaw’s. They came three of the four nights! Oysters and sushi are really fresh. The fried seafood is outstanding. Their steaks were fantastic for those in the bunch who don’t eat seafood. Big menu, but that means something for everyone, even the picky eaters. Overall such a winner! We will definitely be going back and making this our new tradition. Update: we went back this summer and Mine Oyster did not disappoint! I got a lobster roll for the first time there and was very pleased with the buttery toasted bun and the option to choose mayo or butter on the lobster. Everything was delicious, and all parties were thrilled with their meals, but from our perspective, the real winners here are the fried seafood. We don’t often eat fried seafood because it isn’t the healthiest option, but it is so “worth it” here and portions will not disappoint.

First off, I believe it was the owner greeted us and explained some fascinating details about oysters from the Atlantic Ocean. What a plethora of knowledge graciously bestowed upon us. The super friendly staff took care us from when we walked in until we walked out. Cudos for that! The food was outstanding. Perhaps the best Mac and cheese consumed by humans, EVER! I had my first northeast lobster that didn't taste like dirty dishwater. And I've tried it in 3 states at a minimum of 10 places. The oysters stole the show for us. We mixed 3 different types of oysters in a dozen. The jumbo oysters were gargantuan and took a few extra chews. But DAMN they were worth it. The fish and chips and fish tacos were equally dynamite! The batter could use a little funk added to it. Just plain batter is just plain boring. They were the best fish I've ever had in fish and chips. Point blank period! The place was clean and we had the best eating experience in Maine at this restaurant.
