The Only Place Where Police Get to Strip Search Your Food!
Searched for a good seafood spot while coming through the area and this place has great reviews + isn't too far off the freeway. After my visit, I'm puzzled by the contrast between the food and service I experienced and what others rave about.
When I arrived, the cashier was sitting in the lobby watching the LSU game with a uniformed state trooper. This was fine, until I came out of the bathroom and saw that trooper walking around IN THE KITCHEN while eating food straight from his hands! Was he picking random food off people's orders? He didn't bother trying to step out of the view of customer visibility from the lobby, or check to see if anyone was looking. He behaved as though this was commonplace and he had a right to defy sanitary ordinances and do this. But, I guess he did since the cashier and cook didn't stop him. Yucky and unacceptable!
I saw a lady's plate as I was leaving and wasn't impressed. There was much foot traffic while I was there, so it might taste good. But, how long will it be before you get food poisoning, find a random person's hair in your dish, or, even worse, fall victim to ingesting something invisible and disgusting at the hand of a cop (or some other random) whose authority even extends to your right to have food prepared in sanitary conditions?
I vote for a Health Dept shut-down until this place gains more respect for the rights of its customers than the area's long-standing honor of good...
Read moreSome friends and I were there on July 15th. We only saw one employee working, doing his best trying to keep up with a crowd, which was slow, and it took a long time for the one employee to bring our meals out to us. They ran out of oysters, so I got shrimp & fish instead. My food was great, but my friend's corn & green beans were not fresh appearing, but looked like they came out of a can, and were too spicy. She couldn't eat either of them, and none of us friends could. It was hot in their dinning room, felt like 90°, but their two ceiling fans were not turned on. I asked about them, but was told that he'd "Bring out a fan", but he never did. Apparently the ceiling fans don't work, so I went out to my car & brought in my small battery powered fan, which helped. The ceiling tiles are in bad shape, & need replacing also. I may go back again sometime, but only in the Winter when it's cooler, never again during...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I have eaten at Sam's multiple times in the past. I love their food, the price, as well as the friendly service. However, what I don't like is food poisoning. Ordered some fish, shrimp, and stuffed shrimp. Ate some of it the night purchased and finished it for dinner the next night. The stuffed shrimp was spicy and filled with jalapeños. Had we known they were spicy, we would have passed. So that was money wasted, because no one ate more than a bite. I am currently writing this from my toilet. I have had an upset stomach since. Satan is releasing from my bowels. Needless to say, I will...
