Sweeties has been on my radar ever since I heard about them last year. I made the trek from California all the way to Boston, and I figured it was the best time to check it off of my foodie bucket list. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Taste: I tried the golden milk, toasted hay, cornbread, and sweet basil flavors. They were all so unique, flavorful, robust, and delicious! It was tough to pick a favorite, but I ended up with the sweet basil with a coconut non-dairy base. The texture was light, smooth, and satisfying. In summary, it was damn good! Each spoonful had me doing my happy dance LOL!

Service: The staff was extremely friendly and down-to-earth. Jamila was really nice and approachable and she quickly whipped up my custom cone. Anika was very knowledgeable and gave me some great food recommendations for local businesses in the area. This woman-owned shop is doing it right, and they do it well. The service was top-notch!

Location: It’s right in the heart of the super cute Roslindale community. Need I say more?

Price: I thought the price was quite fair for gourmet New Zealand-style ice cream. It’s not just ice cream. It’s a whole experience, and it’s absolutely worth the price. I was happy to support this small business.

Ambiance: This place is such a vibe. It’s fun, friendly, relaxed, welcoming, family-oriented, and just so cool. I struck up a conversation with a few regular customers, and I could have easily stayed for hours just chatting with the owners.

Cons: None. I’m sad that there isn’t a location on the West Coast.

I wish them all the best! I highly recommend everyone check out Sweeties and get a taste of the ā€œSweeties...

I was disappointed with my experience at Sweeties today. I have been wanting to check this place out for months and went today for the first time. My understanding is that the ice cream is supposed to be New Zealand style soft serve. However, the chocolate ice cream that I got I saw being handed from one worker to another as a ball. And then plopped in the cup. Yes the workers were wearing gloves but still it was very unappetizing to see this ball of ice cream being handed over like that. My friend got the coffee ice cream which was clearly soft serve and looked much more appetizing. The folks working there were also not very friendly and mostly on their phones. I felt like I was inconveniencing them when I ordered. Maybe I just caught this place on an off day but I'm unsure if I...

Today, during a community walk for work, I went to Sweeties Ice Cream Shop in Roslindale Square, and wow, what a treat! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Anika's friendly face, full of warmth and excitement to share the unique New Zealand-style ice cream experience. As an ice cream lover, I had high hopes—and Sweeties went above and beyond!

Their soft-serve was the creamiest, dreamiest I’ve ever had! I went for chocolate, added fresh banana, topped it off with extra chocolate jimmies, and finished with a dollop of homemade whipped cream—absolute perfection. Every bite was a little piece of heaven. Seriously, don’t just walk… run to Sweeties for the indulgence you didn’t know you needed! I’ll definitely be back with my family to enjoy it...

I absolutely adore Sweeties!!! I was a bit skeptical initially because I’m an obnoxious ice cream snob but the ice cream is DELICIOUS and different than any ice cream I’ve ever had. It’s hard to open a business that is simultaneously unique, excellent, and unpretentious but Sweeties hits all these marks. I highly recommend choosing a suggested flavor combo—the key lime cheesecake and orange dreamsicle are my faves! On top of being delicious, Sweeties is also a great vibe. The staff is efficient, the owners cultivate a warm environment, and the artistry is detail-oriented down to the temperature-color changing spoons! This makes waiting for ice cream around other intergenerational Rozzie peeps really fun. I’m excited to come back all summer!

I had a wonderful time at Sweeties. When I went in, the staff greeted me and explained to me all about their New Zealand style ice cream. The staff are such wonderful people with great personalities. I sat inside and had my ice cream. I love that they are a bar stool counter to eat at. I got the two of the specialty ice creams. One was the chai flavor and the other was a vanilla blackberry. Everything tasted so good. I’d definitely go back. I would recommend parking at the parking lot near the Roslindale Medical Center if you can’t get street parking.
