I have been coming here for years but yesterday had the joy of hosting my best friend’s bridal shower in the side bar and it was so amazing I finally got off my butt to post a review because they deserve it. Firstly Tricia and Roisin the Devlin’s/bodega managers are simply lovely human beings all around and on a regular day go above and beyond to make your experience great. The atmosphere of all their bars is what’s keeping Brighton center lively and still very Irish but happily incorporating a lot of cultural influences in the food that keep it exciting. The food at devlins though is always excellent and changes just enough to keep you interested but the old reliables are always available. As a vegetarian I really appreciate that they incorporate beyond/ impossible meats so I can still get a fancy sandwich/bao bun etc. I love their drinks and to have one on the patio while the sun shines is to know true happiness. I literally love all things about them but in particular if you ever want to host an event contact Roisin and do it! They were outstanding. This shower began at 11am and I was corralling family members out after 6pm to give you an understanding of how much everyone enjoyed themselves. We...
Read moreSo much depends.. right? I can't say there's a consistent "pay attention to me" review possible. I also believe that to be true about almost anywhere we review. Ask yourself. What makes or breaks my experience? That's why so many questions we local guides answer for Google are about pretty narrow categories or interests (important or not I'm not judging) I think that's why I'm famed for my potty pix. Great/good/warmed up/fresh.. food. "I was really hungry and with good buddies we were digging the cocktail list" oh I hadn't noticed we were ignored for 45 minutes. This is I think the disparity you see in reviews. Good: outdoor patio. Vibe. Sound level if early enough. I loved my fries both times I ordered them but I can easily imagine a heat lamp when this place gets crowded (I have only been when there was no line) Thinking.. very good food.. a tad costly but I don't pay their rent. Convivial with friends. Wouldn't want to eat alone here (a frequent Google guide question) summary: I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but I certainly would choose if convenient. Check the menu. That helps me figure out what their...
Read moreBased on the reviews, I was hopeful. The food was poor. We went as a table of 6. Fish & Chips, two chicken Caesar salads, two chicken tender apps and 2 poke’ bowls. Fish was 90% batter. There was hardly any fish. I had to share my chicken with my mom. Fries were old. It was just bad. Both chicken Caesar salads came without croutons. We asked for no tomato, which to me is weird that they even come with tomato. I thought it was just missing on mine but my friend didn’t have any either. Super disappointing. Lettuce and chicken. Not even plenty of lettuce. At least I would expect for the entire plate to be covered/filled with lettuce. Just poor. The people eating the poke’ bowls said they were good. Two of us got chicken tenders. They weren’t good. We put in the order and food came out rather quickly which only says to me nothing was cooked fresh. Maybe people give good reviews for the drinks?? Food was just bad. Service was great. Our waitress did a great job. Super attentive. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for food. $175 bill for 6 people with no alcoholic drinks. Really...
